dilemma. .... Ok yorkietalk friends....I have a question....if someone thinks they have purchased a yorkie but it is quite certainly a morkie....how does one go about raining on someone's parade? Do u just leave it alone until they ask "is this a yorkie?" |
I would tend to let it be and let the new mom come to her own understanding of the heritage of her baby - or not - depending on how things go in their lives. If it matters to her that her dog doesn't look as she thinks it should or there are health concerns or something, she will probably become curious, begin to question, research, call the breeder, ask friends, etc. and then you might share you thoughts. But if she never does, I'd likely just leave it alone. |
Is she planning on breeding the pup later? |

Well....she posted a pic and I said oh my word she's so cute and fluffy! Morkie? And she said no .... yorkie. So I thought hmmmm....should I push it any further? Lemme ask the yorkie talkers! She is only 10 weeks and I do think it would cause her to get upset....so I believe I will leave it alone unless she makes mention of breeding her or anything. If she asks I will definately share my opinion....other than that I am only gonna share the wisdom I have learned here as far as the health of her new baby! But thank you for everyone's advice! |
I agree - good idea to just let her enjoy her new baby unless she brings the subject up herself or ever mentions breeding. Ignorance can be bliss in many, many cases! :) |
The only other questions I would have are does she have papers on it, and are those papers unlimited (allowing breeding)? If so, the AKC may want to know that the siblings may be used for breeding and you suspect the papers are less than truthful, but you may be able to do that without her knowing it. The AKC may also want to know if a breeder is crossing and selling as pure as well. But, yeah, please do not upset her if you can get around it. |

I gotta agree with Jeanie again. |
Let it be I know from experience! Everyone I meet says Teddy is yorkie poo cuz he's curly on top of his head and cuz I've never grown his hair out long....if you do say it don't be cocky about it like my classmate decided to laugh and say he's definitely not full yorkie or my Petsmart groomer rolled her eyes and said yorkies aren't 17 lbs. I met both parents they're the bigger yorkies like him! Just if it comes up be polite and humble |
what makes you so sure it's a morkie, now they are breeding different colored yorkies, I forget what they call the one that is a buff color, but I have seen a few that are all one color |
