Puppies Spay/Neuter today The puppies turned 6 months old yesterday and today they are both at the vet. Raksha has 2 puppy teeth they are removing and Rowan had 1 still. They will also be microchipped while they are asleep. Please be thinking of my babies as they have a very long day ahead of them. I will be setting up the play pen for them while they are gone. I think my biggest struggle with them healing is keeping Teek from bothering them, as he likes to play and keeping them from jumping. I have their onesies all ready to go so they can wear them as needed. Mostly I will put them on them when I can't be watching them as closely as I would like to be and at night. Wish us luck! |
Keeping babies in thoughts and prayers today for successful surgery and speedy recovery. |
Thoughts go out to you and the puppies today. The hardest thing will probably trying to keep them from jumping and playing tomorrow. |

I have a playpen for them to keep them away from the other dogs. I can put the big dog in the other room at times during the day, but my other Yorkie, Teek will be with me. If the babies are in the playpen maybe that will help, if they are not both trying to wrestle like crazy. I wish I had 2 playpens for a week! LOL I do think my biggest challenge is going to be trying to keep the 2 babies from wrestling all the time like they do. |

Hope they are ok. I was lucky because my puppy didn't bother her incision and was back to normal the 4th day. Now I think the hair growing back is bothering her. Lol |
3 more hours until I pick them up! I was doing great until the last little bit. How do I pass the time until I can go get them? |
Wishing you all the best with your babies. I know how difficult it was just having one surgery to deal with !!! Zoey was 7 months old and only 2 1/2 pounds at the time ( she is still only 2 1/2 pounds at 11 months) and she did very well.....so I am sure yours will do great. Let us know how they do. |
I am sure they did great. Their surgery was this morning and the vet said that no news is good news as they will only call if there is a problem. Mine are ab out 7 1/2 lbs each so I am sure they did just fine. I leave in an hour to go pick them up! I can't wait to snuggle Rowan. I dropped them off though so I hope they are not mad at me for leaving them all day. I hope they are just so happy to see me that they forget that I am the one that took them there. |
Can you take someone with you to hold them while their in the car coming home? Give them lots of cuddles and kisses (which I know you will lol) they forgive very easily. |
Jahryn will be picking them up with me. She will be holding them on the way home. Rowan will usually sit on the passenger seat, but Raksha is not so good at that. Rowan has a seatbelt tether as the booster seat gives him car sickness and riding on the seat on his favorite blanket seems to work good for him. Just over half an hour! This has been the longest 3 hours in a long time. Earlier today was okay but this is getting very slow. |
Good that you'll have Jahryn with you to hold them. Yeah the last few hours are torture, waiting seems endless, soon you'll be getting them. House is to quiet without them I bet. |
They probably will be pretty groggy the rest of the day and tonight. By tomorrow morning they should be showing signs of getting back to normal. Make sure you get pain meds from the vet and when to give them. Good luck and I hope the time is going faster now. |
I always call my vet to check up on my furry kids about an hour after surgery. I have never had a vet say they mind. I usually ask if they mind when I am dropping the kiddo off :). |
The surgery went well and the puppies are at home sleeping in the playpen right now. They have drank a little bit. Rowan had a couple bites of food and is doing well. When we picked them up though Jahryn was petting Raksha while I was paying and after I paid she handed me a smooth white cylinder thing. I looked at it and the lady was talking to another client. When they were done talking I asked the lady about it. It was her microchip. So, they took her in the back and scanned her and sure enough it was not in. They had to insert a new one for her. They came out and checked Rowan and his was in. Other than that they are doing well. They have some pain pills to take tomorrow as needed. I am happy they are content to sleep right now though. |
