Spay question Does spaying have any effects on females? Behavioral or otherwise? |
I had 4 females, the first two were not spayed, were not used for breeding, this was years ago before I knew the danger of not spaying. My next two were spayed. I saw no diff. between the two that were not spayed and the two that were. Old wives tail is "spaying makes them fat" not true, what owners feed any spayed or un-spayed makes them fat. My two that were spayed had beautiful sleek bodies, they had very little table food if any. They were cuddle bugs, very affectionate. All my girls spayed and not spayed were sweet, ppl, animal friendly, never fought among them selves even when the not spayed ones came into heat. Spaying is for health safety. |
It really shouldn't have any appreciable change in behavior when spaying a puppy. |
I think a lot of people think there is because they get there girls spayed when they are pups so they might think there is a change when there is not they just are maturing. I personally had mine spayed before her first heat and noticed no change at all. She was around 9 months old when she got spayed. I grew up with one dog we rescued at around two years old and she was not spayed when we got her and we waited a year to spay her and she had no changes. All the other dogs I grew up with we had spayed before their first heat and I never noticed anything. |
