How do you keep hair clip in hair? Every time Joan puts a hair clip in Addie's hair it stays there about 5 minutes. If the puppy shack doesn't throw it across the room, Raider helps remove it. We're afraid one of them will eat it. |
It's best to band the top knot w/a hair band, then put on the hair clip/ bow. It also depends on how much hair they have, if it's sparse, it might not hold on too well. It also depends on the type of clip... For puppies, I wouldn't try to put on bows until they get a little older. I only use it for pics & special occasions. Please do not leave it on when unsupervised. I left a small baby snap clip on Mimi & Momo pulled it off her head & ate it! I knew he ate it bc he pooped it out the next day...this was when he was a puppy & eventually outgrew it. |
When you use the tiny rubber bands to do a topknot, how do you get them out? Our groomer put a really cute topknot and bow on Bella when we took her last, but we ended up having to cut it out because it would not seem to slide off. Needless to say that messed up having a topknot for a few months and we are frustrated! |
There are tiny scissors you can use to snip them or I just squeeze it off. Taking your fingers under the rubber and pulling opposite directions. It just slides right off ....painless too. |
Usually we can get our top knot hair bands out, but sometimes we have to cut out the rubber band. Jahryn had one that she had to cut the band in several places and take it out in pieces. She was able to save the top knot hair though and that is what we wanted, the rubber band came off in about 6 pieces though. Also, try a little detangler sprayed on the top knot hair and then work it in with your fingers and try to remove the band then. It usually slides off pretty well with the detanger in the hair. We usually only leave a top knot in for 2 days tops and then remove the band and pull it up again to avoid it getting too tangled. |
For myself I use detangle rubber bands, when I take my hair out of the rubber band it breaks by it's self. I have not used them on Cody as he has fine hair and I would have to twist the rubber band 6 or 8 times to get the top knot tight, he would NEVER stay still that long lol. These rubber bands stretch as you are using them, I got them in CVS drug store, package of 500, they come in multi color meaning each rubber band is multi color. If your pup had thick hair you would not have to twist this rubber band as many times as I would have to if I used them on Cody. |

The little band scissors that Jenny at Topline sells are great. Never have to worry about pulling Joni's hair or it breaking off. |
