I am a little perplexed I am so confused about some of the furbaby owners. They come here ,ask questions, ask for advice, and tell the problem with the furbutt. They receive lots of good advice and several replies and then we never hear the outcome of the problem . They sound like they care when they make the post and then they disappear! And we are left hanging and wondering how their baby is. I dont feel this is very fair to those that really take the time to post replies or ones like me that read all of them (LOL) We care and really want to know how your babies are . I ,for one , would so appreciate updates on these little angels that have had problems. Do you think that is asking too much ? I have learned and am learning from this wonderful forum and I care very much about all ailing furbutts of any kind. Please try to be better at updating on your post. ♥♥♥ I care. |
dog Yes I pray and wait to hear the outcome. Yet I realize when one is in the midst of turmoil it is hard to get on line and share info. Still when the storm passes I appreciate the outcome. I sure praised the Lord when I read that sweet Jeanie was home with precious Tibbe. So grateful for that news. I missed her caring messages. |

This is a real pet peeve of mine. I think if I am in turmoil and go to people that I know are concerned and care about me, I ask for and receive advice, I think it is inexcusable to not come back within 24 hours and spend 15-50 seconds to type, "Thank you, pup is at vet", or "Thank you, pup is better", or "Thank you, but I have lost my baby".....If you have enough time to come looking for help, we drop what we are doing to try to offer that help, be gracious enough to find the time/MAKE the time to express gratitude and the outcome. It is just good manners...... |
I hate it when people come and ask for advice and never come back. I hate it more when people ask for advice, get great advice, but it's not what they want to hear and get mad at us. But yeah, how hard is it to come back on and say thanks. But weirder still, posting up to the second updates while you're at the vet. "Her heart stopped" "Oh wait she's back". |

Another frustrating aspect of not having updates is that the thread isn't helpful for future readers who have dogs facing the same problem. For instance, when Max had his eye problems, I found lots of threads dating back to the beginning of YT. The majority of them had zero updates about the treatment or the results. It would have been helpful to read, "We did xyz, and here is how it turned out." There is an emotional and educational benefit to updating Sick & Injured threads, and training and other experiences. I do think there has been an improvement over time with the number of people who do update. |
I appreciate all the information I have received here on YT! And I have learned so much from others post when their pets are sick. The members/breeders have so much wisdom to share. Buddybear is my first (and hopefully not last) Yorkie. I asked dh for another one for my birthday.....he answered no awfully fast, which I don't understand stand as he enjoys him almost as much as I do..... I think I'm going to have to work on bbear on staying on my side of the bed but hubby has more body heat....or the little man thinks he just should share himself. Lol |
I agree. When you ask for advice and people take the time to respond the OP should follow-up it's only polite. All you can do is keep track of the people who consistently post and run and ignore all future posts of theirs. |
Boy I too like to see updates. Sometimes I spend a fair amount of time typing out a reply and then there is nothing that comes back. And it would be so helpful to know if the exercises or the training tips met or not with success. |
I agree with up-dates, I think of all the threads asking for help, it's given and the OP disappears. I am just baffled by this myself...There was one post that asked for help, it was given, then she never came back, there were several requests for an update. The op came back with a snappy answer, her reply was the dog was well and she didn't feel it was necessary to come back to up-date us, she had a busy life and was expecting a new baby. Many new ppl do not realize what their puppies mean to us, how we worry for them, how much we love this breed, not love only our babies, but all babies. Some newbies that come asking for help have not been on YT and do not know how much YT members love and worry about their sick or injured babies, and do not think to give the outcome of their pup can help someone else, or maybe they are just selfish ppl and care not to help others. I am by no means defending these ppl, just want to offer food for thought. It will not lessen our worry for pups we have no up dates on. A few weeks ago someone posted about her new puppy being anemic, she was offered advice, she was to take the pup to the vet, she never updated us. I was worried sick over this new baby, we had already lost two very young babies. I sent her a PM asking how she made out, she has yet to reply to me. Not a day goes by that I wonder how that lil baby is, or if it is even alive. Some only want help at that moment and see no need to get back to us with the out come of their pups. Yes, it is inconsiderate of them, but, they don't realize this. Just my opinion. |
I don't really know why sometimes people come here, post kind of frantically and then never take a little time to update those who show concern. It stinks sometimes. Still though, I'm always SO impressed and humbled by all the help and support that y'all give people here....it's amazing. I just said "y'all" y'all....it's my inner southerner. |
I say/type y'all all the time! And I'm a CA girl! (NOT Valley girl though! LOL) |

well maybe just a little diff point of view. I have helped 1000's of humans in crisis in my career and rarely get an update. So try not to take it so personally. It is super awesome to hear outcomes and sure others can learn from reading..but the real reward is that many of you help people on a regular basis and thus, help 1000's of pups out there. The 1 person you may never hear about that decides not to be a BYB or the 1 person who gets the pup to a vet...there are soo many you don't know about and never will. Sure thank you is always nice to hear but its not why you do what you do! Keep changing the world 1 pup at a time :):aimeeyork:animal36:animal-pa |

I get your point but if it is your career it is your paying job. This is a volunteer membership board who do not get paid for their efforts. |
