Piper In(to) Hot Water The other night when Piper realized I was soaking my feet, she made a beeline for the plastic tub; I thought she was reacting to squeaking toes on plastic. Anyway, I grabbed her because the water was very hot and then made sure I didn't wiggle toes, but Piper remained intensely focused and tried wiggling away from me to get to that water. When the water was simply warm, I set her down, figuring she was just curious and wanted to get a closer look, but she immediately stuck her little head in and went crazy gulping warm water; I mean she kept gulping until I literally pulled her away. A couple of days later, I tried the foot soak again, but Piper was even more excited and sure enough as soon as I let her, practically dove into the tub, gulping warm water like it was nectar from the gods or something... It's just plain ol' tap water and Piper always has fresh room-temp water available. I mean the intensity of her wanting to get at that really warm water was amazing; her little body was tense as it could be while I held her. The first time I let her drink (read: GULP) thinking she'd stop, but her little belly was actually swelling she was drinking so much so fast...it was a bit unnerving, but funny when I knew she was ok--not that funny when I was awakened three times so she could go--and I mean GOOOO outside. This is a non-issue (we rarely come across random tubs of hot water ;) ), however, I am bewildered by Piper's obsession...Whadda y'all think?! |
Lol! Momma soup!?! Too funny! Just plain water? No soak scrub or anything? (You wouldn't have let her drink if so) Yorkies are so silly! |

They like to lick our skin like crazy, so maybe the hot water just makes a kind of human essence broth of sorts to their super heightened senses. Maybe she has a dry throat and figured it was soothing . Heck, put some honey in it next time just to give it nutritional value, lol |
Lol, how funny!! I wonder if warm water is the yorkie version of coffee at Starbucks??!!! :p |
That probably depends on if YOU are caffeinated or not? What you're sweating out is what they are taking in...Coffee, antihistamines, energy boosters would be like adding an upper to their system I suppose. Natural food crunchy granola people would be like the decaf version. Do you like your People Coffee Caffeinated or Decaf, Piper? |
Ohmygosh, you guys crack me up! |

Does your husband sweat at work? Every dog I have ever had loves to lick me after I have been seating. I think it is the salt. |
Hello Maxdog, I am sure my husband sweats at work. No AC for him. He always says he thinks it is the salt Joey likes. We had another dog that loved to lick his neck a lot too. Thanks for the reply. |
yeah, we are a like a giant salt lick for them. They go crazy on my boyfriend cause he sweats a lot. except for on his hands. He's a diesel mechanic. They aren't too keen on some of the stuff on his hands. but his neck and arms and face they go crazy on. He also drinks an incredible amount of Dr. Pepper. He has them addicted to Dr. Pepper. |
