Like the title says he's not eating any food that is put out as dog food. He wants scraps but I'm not going there. So far in the past two days he's eaten a quarter cup. Mind you he's 10.6lbs! Does the same thing with pretty much all his food. Scarfs for about 2 weeks to a month then one day, takes a bite promptly spits it out and looks at me with a looks that only reads "how dare you feed me this crap!". He loves chicken so I boiled celery and carrots and chicken last night. Tested the individual parts he liked them by themselves. Added rice, which he's had before. Mix it up and he won't even take a bite. I've tried so many different foods. Same thing. My vet told me not to give in and wait him out but I feel mean. Honestly I wish he would just eat like a normal dog!!! Oh and he will no longer eat parmesan. At all on anything. Used that trick a couple months back. He's "over it" I guess. Any suggestions ? I'm tired of having half eaten bags of dog food I have to donate. I dont buy the cheap as its not good for him. I should add by now colby is 4 days away from 6mo | Colby thinks he is in a "short order cafe" as my momma used to say..."I am NOT cooking 5 different meals for all you people...the dinner menu goes down on the table and if you want to eat, fine....if you dont, that is your choice....I am NOT a short order cook!"
Now, your baby has realized he has you jumping thru hoops, trying to find something that tickles his palate. He is NOT a tiny little withering-on-the -vine itty bitty dog....he is a strapping young man that has learned how to get mom to jump at his command! Unless you WANT to present him with a menu from which he is allowed to select what he will eat, you need to teach him meals go down and he eats or not, that is his choice. He will pull the "pitiful me" dog act....YOU decide what you want him to eat. THAT is your decision....YOU select ONE food, preferably a dog food dry kibble that you decide is best for him, and that is what he gets....select something he has indicated he likes, and that is what he gets....after a day or two, when he turns his nose up and wants to see the menu again please, NO!! He eats what has worked well for him for several days, no menu change.....he may go a day or two but he is not a weak baby, subject to hypoglycemia or seizure activity....he will get hungry enough and he will realize the short order cook has left the premises! He will eat! |
