Limping My Yorkie is 2 1/2 and developed a limp over a week ago, she suffered no trauma as far as we know. I took her to the vet Friday and he just prescribed pain pills and said to rest it. I'm worried because she's not herself and still limping and doesn't even want to go for her potty walk. She always had this thing where her leg shook sometimes and it's that same leg, when I mentioned it to the vet he didn't even comment on that. I'm very worried about my baby :( has anyone else ever expert end this? Thanks |
I have never gone through anything like this but I definitely would pursue this farther. I would find another vet that would do some tests to find out what is the matter with your little one. I hope things work out well for you but you will feel much better calling around for a new vet. Susan |
Not with my yorkie, but my husband's bulldog was limping about two weeks ago. I called my vet who said if it didn't resolve itself within 3 days(after we checked her feet/legs) to bring her in. He figured she stepped on something outside. It resolved itself. With your pup having limped for over a week my best advice is to have a different vet look her over. |
Did the vet say whether they suspected a strain/sprain/whatever....? Did he check the knee / patella, bc LP (luxating patella) is so common in yorkies...? If this doesn't get better, I'd get another opinion asap...bc this could be a tear, ya know? |
The vet did check her legs and asked if she suffered any trauma which I told him not that we knew of. I guess I'll keep an eye on her for a couple more days and may consider finding a new vet! Thanks for your kind words. |
