New to Yorkies!! Hi guys just recently got my Yorkie this weekend! We love him so much..long story short he was my sisters but she couldn't keep him so I took him in. His name is Dexter, he is 12 weeks old and weighs 4.6lbs. Trying to figure out his weight as an adult. Breeder said his dad was 3 lbs and mom was 5 lbs. Doesn't sound right to me but what do yall think? I think he'll be in the bit bigger side. And I tried uploading pictures but it's not letting me. :( |
I would think he'd be somewhere btwn 7-8 lbs or so..? Congrats on your new baby! |
Your pup's weight not only factors the weight of his parents, it also takes into account dogs and what has been coming down the line over the last 9-12 generations of dogs behind this pup. |
My boy was 4 pounds @ 12 weeks . Now he is 11 pounds @almost 4 years old . |
Welcome to YT! You might have to resize your pics, but we would love to see the new pup! |
Congratulations and welcome. |
Welcome to YT, sorry can't help on Dexter's final weight, it will be your surprise lol. |
Welcome to Yorkie talk! I am glad you were able to take the puppy as they could not keep him. How luck for him. That is about the size of my puppies at 12 weeks. I am expecting mine to be about 8-9 lbs. The dad of my puppies was only 4 1/2 lbs, but the mom was 10 lbs. I do know the grandparents on the dad's side and the grandmother is 7 lbs and the grandfather is about 9 lbs. My puppy looks like the grandfather right now, so I am hoping he will look just like him as an adult. Mine are 5 months old and my smaller puppy is about 6 1/2 lbs and the larger one is a bit over 7. There are adult weight estimators online that you put in the age and weight and breed of a puppy and it will give you an adult weight, but these are not always correct of course. |
