Help!! Puppies hair Hi all, I'm new here but have read the forums a lot before signing up. I have a 2 yr old blonde and silver yorkie female and a 3 yr old black and tan male, they've had 2 litters. Their first litter was a boy and girl as well as their second. My question is this, the first litter at 8 weeks old their hair was growing and full this litter at 8 weeks old not at all. Any ideas as to why??? My images are too large to attach but will try in a bit...thanks |
3 Attachment(s) Here's pictures.....the picture of the 2 is from their first litter. Other pictures are pups from this litter....all at 8 weeks |
Nothing |
Are you sure no other males got to mom? |
Not possible. She is never left alone. We saw the ties with Dad. |
Completely baffled |
Not sure then...picture #3, that little guy/gal looks to be a BIT fluffy like the previous litter. It's the middle pup that really looks short haired. Maybe their hair will fill out more soon! :) |
Yeah, the 3rd pic, he is starting to get a bit longer coat. The 2nd pic, the girls body is a bit but not her face. SO strange!! Thanks for your reply. Hopefully this has been an issue with someone else? |
I don't know. However could it be possible that the diet of the mother was or is different? I don't if the absence of any minerals could affect the pups???? What does the vet say? |
Could you show us a pic of mom and dad. Do you have papers on mom and dad. Food will not change the dna of a dog or any thing for that matter. |

We had a cocker spaniel that had a litter of pups and some were born with a cleft lip. Apparently the stud used had thrown these type of pups before...some genes skip many generations. My female was pregnant when I got her so I told the previous owner who contacted the owner of the stud and she said she would have him fixed. |
4 Attachment(s) I think diet may be part. The first litter were weaned b6 8 weeks and eating solid kibble. This litter is eating soft food and mom's milk still. I have attached pictures of mom and dad as well. I have papers for both. Pictures of dad are before and after grooming. |
Also, the vet didn't seem concerned. He said they were adorable, healthy pups... |
very strange, the photos of the parents look like yorkies, but the pups don't look full yorkie. Are you sure the lighter pup is a full bred yorkie. my pup Lola is a yorkie mix but many people think she is full yorkie, if I was to have bred her some of her non yorkie heritage could likely surface. There are many dog sellers out there selling mixes claiming they are purebreds. |
I am a little worried you may be right Dblain. We have papers on both but who knows. It sickens me to think someone would do that. I love my girl no matter what so I don't understand why one would do that. The little guys ears are up today and he is fluffier but not change in my girl.... |
