Going to office Hello Friends, I have 11 month old yorkie, i had luxury to work from home since i had him (5 months). He has always seen me home, but not i have to start going to work. I have till September to train him, Little guy has issue being alone (separation anxiety), things i have tried so get some practice 1) leaving him in crate for couple hrs, put DOGTV on (its only available on Direct TV). 2) Doggy music. He barks and sometime cries inside his crate. I know i won't be able to leave him in crate for 8+ hours for obvious reasons (pee, poo, eating). What things you guys have done/do leaving your yorkie behind, do they get use it eventually? ANY advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you :) |
We had a very similar situation. When we got Max, Toni's boss said she could bring him to work everyday. That was good for a couple of months until the landlord of the office complex said no dogs allowed. Max hated a crate and hated being left alone. So our solution (you are not going to like this answer) was to go get Sasha. She was his baby sister from the next litter. They bonded quickly and while neither one likes it when we go to work every day, they have each other and have developed into well rounded dogs. Max was a little over 11 months old when Sasha arrived. |
That is exactly the reason that we are looking into a playmate for Bella! |
I left my old cell recording my Yorkie when I went to work one day...... It recorded only for 60 mins... but my heart broke when I got back from work and watched the video... He was constantly crying and howling.....the solution was to get him a playmate...... problem solved. Now I sometimes leave my old cell recording... no more crying.....I guess they really hate to be left home alone...... |
Lol...a little sister was my solution as well! Bonnie is so happy to have a playmate. She doesn't cry or bark at all when I leave now. |
I'm going through the same thing. My husband and I have both been alternating working from home. He's going back to an office job next week. Johnny's two and hates being alone. I don't know what I will do. I've already sacrificed all my exercise and going out to be with him. I can send him to daycare two days a week, but that still leaves three days where I'll have to be home. I've thought about another Yorkie, but don't think I can manage training a puppy again. |
