Aca Vs. Akc
 
My Mitzee is 8 months old now and tonight when I was watching the AKC competitions I thought I would look for her papers because I couldn't remember them being AKC. When I found them I realized the papers I got for her were from the ACA.

Can I still register her with the AKC?

No. If she was not born of two AKC registered parents, then she cannot be registered with AKC.

I don't think so, I believe thay are different groups and one has nothing to do with the other.
ACA- American Canine Assoc.
AKC- American Kennel Assoc.

Absolutely Not! I love her dearly. Actually I didn't realize I could love a dog so much.

I was just thinking of breeding her, so I could give my niece's a pup.

Were her parents AKC? If so, you may still be able to register her AKC (if it is important to you) as many dogs hold more than one registry.

Although AKC is the biggest and most respected at this time in the dog club world in America, it is not w/o criticism and there are many breeders who refuse to register AKC for many reasons. The AKC is often criticized for caring too much about the money and some believe that it is only a matter of time before they may slip in the ratings of registries and another registry may take over as the most popular.

I am sure there are plenty on here who disagree with me in this. ;)

I figured you probably did. That should be the most important thing and it sounds to me like it is where you are concerned. :) My advice would be to be more concerned about the dog than the paper....sounds like you are. :thumbup:

Your nieces probably won't care if the puppy is ACA or AKC but you will proably want to find an ACA stud dog unless you are able to get the dual regiatration still and get her registered AKC too.

Please don't breed for this reason! :( No matter how healthy and what size your baby is there is always a risk in losing her when you breed. Instead why don't you save your money and buy her one!!

But if you still want to breed her and give your niece a puppy, what different would it make if the puppy had papers or not!!

I was looking at a breeder's website today and saw that they triple register their yorkies with ACA, AKC and APR - not familiar with that last one.

I used to breed Bichons. My dogs were AKC, therefore so were the pups - but I started hearing a lot of questionable things about AKC.
