Help! My yorkie angry pees! I have a 5 y/o female yorkie. We have had her since she was 10 weeks old. She is potty trained to go outside, but when she gets upset with us she pees and poops in the house. She does have separation anxiety. Lately it has gotten worse, I can't even go into another room without her getting upset and peeing on the carpet. I don't usually see her doing it, so I'm not sure how to discipline her. Any advice on what to do? |
Dogs/animals don't really pee or defecate out of anger or emotions. The closest to that would be submissive peeing, but that doesn't sound like this. The only thing I can think of is that you really do need to start over w/ training...ie, make her area very small and take her outside regularly. You can also tether her to you so she is never loose. |
That sounds like good advice. |
Our little girl is still young but loves her carrier space. She goes in by herself to sleep at times. Puts toys in and out of it. We put her there at night with a tiny treat. She barks when she needs to go outside and I get up and take her out. I don't know if an older dog would like it but Mitzi seems to feel it is her space and a safe place. I know Mitzi does love being with people. Is your little one Aline very much? |
Opps! Alone very much! |
I would put her in her crate or just tether her to me. I don't think she is doing it out of anger. |
Try putting her on a schedule for potty breaks outside. Once when she gets up, just before lunch, another after lunch, then before and after dinner. Keep the schedule strict. |
Thank you everyone for your replies! So helpful! We are about to move in a couple weeks, so I feel like it may get worse. I will try to start over with potty training and praising her whenever she goes outside. She was kennel trained when she was a puppy, so I guess I will have to go back to that. I work as a Registered Nurse and my husband is military, so the dogs do spend some time alone during the day (about 7 hours). I don't normally have any problems with her going potty in the bedroom, she sleeps with us at night, just during the day is the issue. |
