Help on looking for GF for my little 1 Attachment(s) Hello, I have a 1 year old pure breed, have the paperworks, and I would like him to have to GF and produce a litter to keep. Since it's my first time doing this, wondering if anyone can share some information like how I can go about it and since my is a male, is there a standard fee and/or do I only get to keep one of the puppies etc. Thank you! |
I would realllllly think long and hard before you make your pet a stud dog...it may not be what you think. Or are you planning just 1 litter then neutering him? |
Most cases you get pick of the litter, but that is up to the owners of the female if the female is a show quality dog. |
First and foremost I would like to say Welcome! Secondly, what you receive regarding studding your male is determined by you and the bitch's owner. Most owners of the female will pay a stud fee, in my research, to avoid giving pick of litter. The fee is what you feel your male is worth; some breeders charge as low as $500 up to the purchase price of a puppy which can be $1000(+). Now that I've answered your question, I'd just like to point out that dogs do not have girlfriends or boyfriends. There is no wooing period that leads to copulation. To be blunt and a bit crass it's a "Wham, bam, thank ya ma'am". Before you breed you should ask yourself "What characteristics within the standard (if you're breeding by the standard)does my dog have which make it so he should reproduce?" |
Thank you for the feedbacks so far. I am planning on having 2 litters and afterwards to neuter him. So in words of Colesmommy01, two "wham bam thank ya ma'ams!" :) But seriously, really only want couple litters keep a pup from each and that is it. |
Awwww. You mean they don't suck on a piece of spaghetti and kiss like in the Lady and the Tramp??? :2hearts2: |
Hi and welcome . . . If you are serious about breeding. You need to start doing more research. Find a mentor in your area to help you. Breeding goes beyond just having papers. . . What papers do you have ?. . Is he tested ? Is the female tested ? With breeding is he the best representation of the breed ? All of these and many more questions come into breeding. Check out our breeding section. |
