Smart Dog Rejects Recalled Diamond 3 Attachment(s) Hi All, My Uncle has a dog named Psilo. He's about 7 y/o. My uncle just realized recently that he was feeding Psilo the Diamond food. He gave Psilo the recalled Diamond food for 3 days in a row, but Psilo didn't eat it!!! He went over to the bowl 3 different days, smelled the food, and walked away! I guess he was smart to know that it didn't smell right and that something was wrong with it. Well, on the fourth day my uncle said he did eat a can of the food. Now, I don't know if the food was a different date, an older can left in the cabinet, or the contaminated food and he just didn't get sick off one can (he's not a Yorkie...he's a mixed breed medium in size). Well, he's okay thank God. My uncle still has a can of the contaminated food in his cabinet. He doesn't know what to do with it. I think he's gonna hold onto it just to make sure nothing happens. Below are some pictures of Baby and Psilo. Look at the size difference! LOL P.S. I also remember a woman on the news saying that her dog was turning his nose up to the food, but she kept giving it to him telling him everything was okay, and then he passed away. Guess dogs are really smarter than we thought. :) |
Psilo way to go! GOOD DOG!! ;) |
Smart dog Psilo  Smart of your uncle not to make him eat it. I read about owners who had dogs that turned up their nose at the Diamond food but then the owners would put gravy or something else to cover up the smell and the dogs ended up eating it. They literally helped to kill their own dogs, how sad. We should learn to "listen" to them... |

Great job Psilo! What a good doggie :) They give us signs all the time that sometimes we don't pick up on. That reminds me...One day, we bought a bag of food from the vet (prescription food), brought it home, and poured some in his bowl...He refused to eat which was strange b/c he usually likes his food. We were worried since he can't eat any other food b/c of his liver problem, so my husband and I immediately realized that there must be something wrong with the food. We checked the bag, and it was expired! That's why he wouldn't eat it. How in the world did he know? I guess it smelled stale?? |
Speaking of expired food...I was in Walgreens the other day and I was in the dog aisle. I have been checking out all different types of food and their ingredients to see if I can "tell what's good and bad." I picked up a bag of Purina Beneful (or something like that) and each bag was expired!! I got the manager and told him and he took them off the shelf. :) I did my good duty for the year! LOL |
I feel with the issues of certain formulas of Diamond brand food that many of us have learned a lot. Whether it be to pay closer attention to if our dogs are interested in their meal(s) or checking expiration dates on their foods. It's unfortunate that some owners have lost their beloved pets over a serious situation, but it's been an eye opener for us too and a learning experience. :aimeeyork |
What a smart dog, he must have a very sensitive nose! |
Smart Dog!!!! Way to go Psilo!!!! :) :) :) |
