How Old Will a Yorkie Live? :animal-pa:aimeeyork I was curious how old the average Yorkie lives? My sweet little boy is 16 and he is deaf and blind, but still seems happy and loving! He stumbles a bit but just senses his way around the house. I have to take him outside and watch him potty, but he seems to be good. I know he can't live much longer, but I was wondering what others have experienced. The only thing odd I have noticed is every time he drinks he drinks so much that he gags and throws up the water. Any thoughts? |
I'm not an expert in age but it seems he lived a long time for a small dog! Bless you for not abandoning him now that he needs you more than ever and remember all the great times you've shared |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. 16 is wonderful! There have been quite a few Yorkies here who have made it to 17 and 18. I think 19 is the oldest I have read about on YT. |
My last girl was 17 years and 2 months old when she had to be put down. She was 95% blind and about the same deaf, but she was healthy and happy, slept most of the day, would cry so loud when I had to leave her alone the neighbors across the road could hear her. She was still playful but in a different way. 16 y/o is wonderful. |
Max is a little over 2 years old and Sasha is 1 and a half. I can only hope to get 16 years of happiness from them. |
Thank you Such encouragement...thanks to you all for your nice words and I love hearing about others and their special babies. Darby has been through everything with me. He has moved from Las Vegas to Texas and watched my daughter grow up. I would never abandon any of my animals no matter how sick or crippled. We do a lot of rescue work, but this one is my special baby. He actually came from a pet shop in Las Vegas. He has brought so much happiness to my life!!! |
Two of my yorkies are turning 15 in a month. One of them is starting to seem more frail and is starting to be hard of hearing and has a few medical issues. I hope you enjoy your little boy for a couple more years! |
