Yorkie Weight I am going to purchase a male yorkie that weighs 1 pound at 14 weeks. How much will he weigh as an adult? The breeder says 2 pounds. But chart have him at 3 to 4 lbs. |
I'd say 2-3 if he's that tiny! My baby was 5 at 12 weeks and now he's 17 lbs at 10 months so it's only an estimation |
yorkie weight I hope you are right. He is so little. The father weight 2 1/2 pounds and the mother is 4 lbs. Thanks for your response. I am new to this. |
Will probably be very small so I think it would be a good idea for you to learn as much as you can about Yorkies and especially very small ones before you bring this puppy home. My Teddy weighs four pounds and is considered very small so anything under that is tiny and requires extra care. I'm sure some members here with smaller than standard Yorkies, like yours, will come along to provide further assistance. Congrats on your new puppy :) |
My guess would be anywhere from 2.5-4 lbs. Be VERY very very careful if this breeder is marketing this pup as a "teacup" or "micro" or any other marketing buzz word! |
I would say around 2-3.5 lbs. He's really tiny! My smallest was around 22 oz at that age and he's 2.5 lbs now at 2 years of age. Your pup may be bigger than that as an adult though, the charts are wrong at times. |
I'm not sure what chart you're using but the ones I looked at say 2-2.5 lbs. your breeder probably has a good idea based on previous pups from the parents. |
According to all the charts I have seen, he should weigh between 2 to 2 1/2 pounds full grown ( possibly 3 pounds) Zoey weighed 1 pound 4 ounces at 14 weeks and is now 9 months and weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces. So he may be even smaller. Wishing you all the best with him !!! |
I decided not to purchase the 14 week old pup. I am gonna purchase a 7 month old pup that is 2lbs 5oz He is healthy. How big should he get? The dad is 2lbs and the mom is 5 lbs. The breeder says he should be independently 3lbs. |
According to the charts he should be between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs. Still very little, however, the fact that he is very healthy is what is REALLY important !!! All the best in whatever you decide. |
Yes I would say a teacup yorkie .. |
do you want a 2 to 2.5 adult yorkie? |
Yes I do. Why do you ask? |
Make sure you check for liver shunt in a pup this small !!! |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 407077Never heard that (liver shunt) before - so, figured I might not be alone. A liver shunt is a blood vessel that carries blood around the liver instead of through it. In some animals a liver shunt is a birth defect ("congenital portosystemic shunt). In others, multiple small shunts ("acquired portosystemic shunts") form because of severe liver disease such as cirrhosis. FWIW - Charlie weighed in at (4 months old - July 6th) 2 lb 2 oz. Yesterday (August 9th) he weighed in at 2 lb 10 oz! He gained 8 oz in a month. Dang - hope he isn't gonna be a porker! Just kidding...:) |
