I've never put perfume directly on Bridget, but people tell me all the time she smells like Clinique Happy, which is what I wear. |
Well - Bridget's Mommy - Your dog is obviously wearing your perfume....and smelling good! This is one reason I share my perfumes with my dog. He only gets a drop or two on the top of his back - But he smells good for days....and he knows it!!! And - I have done this for more than ten years - it definitely does not bother or hurt them at all. I wouldn't worry about sharing our perfumes. After all, my Bichon's favorite perfume is the horse manure that he rolls in out in the pasture. If he had a choice - that's what he'd wear all the time. Sorry - but I just can't share his taste! And, when my sister and daughter bring their dogs over for a visit - they seem to love the "horse manure perfume" just as much as my dog does. Carol Jean |
The alcohol in human perfume is not good for their skin. Look for colognes made speficially for dogs, preferably alcohol free. You can find many on the net. We have one at our groom shop, and I can't remember who it'smade by, but it's a bittersweet lime and smells wonderful. We also use CK-9 on our smellier dogs, but personally I think it's a bit...well, STRONG. haha Just go to google.com and type in "Dog Safe Colognes" it should pull a bunch of stuff up. Good luck! |

If I were to start putting perfume on tigger I'd probably use Johns AXE or abercomie and finch, or his Very Sexy for Him from Victoria secret. But had I had a female dog, she'd wear what I do: BODY by Victoria. I absolutely swear by it!!!! love it love it love it. or Escada Magnetism (getting used to) |

Any particular reason? I just want to make sure they are still safe becuase I am using mine on my boxer. Are they getting new stuff in to replace it? |

Widget, however is always cuddled at my neck, so she smells like whatever I wear. L'air du Temps and once in a while Chanel #5. I think I'll try your little tricks, Carol Jean! |

No, they don't tell us why. The only thing that would make sense to me, is to put out new products or because they weren't selling. I'd go with the latter. I work as a pet care specialist, cashier, and I print out the tags (occassionally I help stock the shelves.) And I recall seeing those items leave. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere, but it may also be because Groomex just came out with a new line. Just a observation. |
I don't put perfume directly on Gus but he does spend quite a bit of time in my arms and my Victoria Secret Dream Angels (Halo) rubbs off on him. We also wear Design, and different Jasmine or Gardenia body sprays. |
My friend has a perfume for her dogs that is formulated specifically for safe use on both pets and humans called "O My Dog." She sprayed some on my Yorkie and I love the smell! She special ordered it at Nordstrom but I found it online at thepamperedpup.com. Here is a link... http://www.thepamperedpup.com/shoppi...dog-parfum.htm |

theirs is actually a spritz, called rose petal pooch and it was a 4 oz bottle for 10 bucks. But it dont take much and it does have the smell of roses. I also use plumaria for my bath shampoo and after bath freshener and lotion when I take my daily bath and just to go here and there like the vet and stuff but I use my chanel when we go to more special places. |
