Guard dog Well my little Lacey has truly settled in to the family. Last night she was the noble protector, growling and barking through the entire night at the Thunder storm! She never backed down :D I'm one tired mom! |
Ahh yes, welcome to the world of our fearless lil guys.... Barking at their toys, the leaves blowing, other dogs, or even just nothing at all! |
I guess I was not expecting this to happen. I thought she would be afraid of the loud thunder. Not a chance..haha |
What a fearless protector you have! I bet she is proud that she took such good care of her mommy! |

yep, my Cody does the same thing, I'd rather the barking then have 3 Little shaking girls piled up on my lap. My girls were so scared of thunder, fireworks, this guy fears nothing but the fly swatter, and sometimes not even that lol. |
Ah the guard dog! He will bark at anything and once he realizes who startled him he will lick them as punishment! While in the bathroom today he kept growling at an ant lol! They're crazy guard dogs |
Ha.. mine's are the same way. I wouldn't consider them guard dogs as they won't be able to guard you from anything. They're more of a watch dog. Definitely will growl and bark to let you know when someone or something is around. |

Piper announces arrival and guards against neighbor's Akitas (from other side of chain link fence) as she barks and growls--quite ferociously, I may add--all the while backing away from them and turning toward me. But she is oh so proud of herself and shows it with that Yorkie Strut/Trot Combo that only they can do, yes??!!! She has also decided that tv doorbells and knocks are worth warning barks--fortunately, they don't usually merit her jumping off the couch and racing toward front door as the real ones do...! |
Guard dogs You are not alone. I have a super vigilant boy here. He has a new thing now, my bedroom TV!!! Last week the video and audio signals gave out, and the audio noise was horrendous. The noise scared me and him. Now he hates the TV and keeps going behind it to see the intruder, and growls if I go near the thing! When I am watching TV now he lies in his bed waiting to pounce if it should do anything he is scared of. It is sad that they feel the need to take on these responsibilities!!. |

Ha Ha...not just my Yorkies are 'protector of the universe' it seems...LOL My Yorkie kids place themselves between me and 'the door' facing it, as if to protect me from an intruder they figure will be along any minute, bark at any sound at all, especially the 'inconsiderate' people who choose to drive down our street 'without Yorkie permission' and talk to each other in their cars while their windows are rolled down, or neighbors who dare to play the radio or visit in their yards without consulting my little Yorkie experts! Egads...LOL We ssssshhhhhh a lot, but also tend to turn the TV on and set it to a 'voice' channel...cooking or other craft show, 'sales' TV, sports game, etc., just so there are voices and many other, more 'weird' and unexpected...sudden and often quite loud...sounds, too. Sometimes, it is just the only way to calm them down and mellow out that Yorkie attitude, and stop the Yorkie Strut/Trot...yes, I know 'the one' you mean...LOL |
