New pup Got new yorkie she is 8 weeks weighs 630 g. How much food to I give her over a day. My older yorkie is dribbling since she came in. Why is this |
dont know about the dribbling but i do know that i feed my yorkie lil for breakfest a medium sized amount for lunch and a large but not too large amount for dinner, if you want you can free feed her by keeping food in ehr bowl at all times because at this age yorkies tend to get hygenclomia which is a fancy word for low blood sugar, i also give him a treat as a snack my yorkie is like 7 and a half weeks old almost 8 :animal37 |
You should probably just free feed until about 3 months. My pup is 14 weeks and he is a nibbler, I fill his bowl enough for a full day and he will eventually get through it on his own time. He is being trained now and he gets little treats throughout the day for sitting and following other commands which keep his blood sugar up to fend off any hypoglycemia. |
make sure she eats at least 3 times a day, low blood sugar can be a issue, maybe get some nutrical to have on hand |
You need to keep food out all the time and make sure he is eating every couple of hours. |
Thankx. Yes I'm leaving her good out all time for her. She cried last night in crate. Any advice x |

I guess that your older yorkie is a male if so he is starting to mark as you now have a female. I believe in feeding quite frequently and on a regular schedule for young pups. This way you are sure just how much food she is getting and be proactive to insure that she is getting enough food. I don't know how heavy is 630 grams is, but that sounds light in weight to me. Under or just above a lb or so. That means feed her every 2-3 hours or so. |

Thankx guys. She has been good st times today. Doing toilet out side then inside. Try taking her out ever 20 min or so. My older yorkie Millie has been really good with her today so guess she getting used to her. One day at a time I think. |
That's good that Millie is getting used to your new baby. It takes time for them to get to know one another and adjust to the new situation. Millie is used to be the only one and your new one is used to having a mama and siblings so it is all new to them. I am sure in time they will be good friends if Millie was good to her today already. Best wishes and welcome to Yorkie Talk. Send us pictures of your two if you can. We would love to see them and ooh and aah over them. |
