What type of anti-itch conditioner would you recommend!

Do you know what is causing the itching so you can bite that in the butt?

I use the Duoxo Shampoo alresdy and it does not help.

I use Vectra 3 for flea and tick control and it seems to make her scratch for about a week. Even after I bathe her.

Well then I don't a conditioner or shampoo can be expected to help if there is an allergic reaction going on. I would instead try medicating her w/ Benadryl for about a week and see if that helps. Otherwise, it's like you're treating a stuffy nose w/ an aspirin, ya know?

I have Benadryl here just not sure how much is the correct amount to give her. She weighs 5.13lbs. Don't want to give her to much.

Most of us don't feel comfy giving out dosage info online, however, when it comes to Benadryl - it's very important to always know the dose in case of an emergency like a bee sting, scorpion sting, fire ants or any other allergic reaction...bc Benadryl could save a life. So w/ Benadryl, I always think it's good to share the info: the dose is 1-2mg per pound; my Vet Derm actually prefers the 2mg/pound dosage.

So for your kiddo - this would be 5-10mg. If you took a 25mg pill and cut it in fourths, you'd have 8.25mg pills then - right in the middle of the 1-2mg/pound dosage - perfect!

We are in the process of moving we are going to stop and introduce ourselves to the new vet and discuss with her what she thinks we should try.

Allergies have been awful where I live. Katie has an injury to her paw that we have been treating, but initially we thought she was biting her foot due to allergies. She still might have them, but she no doubt has an injury. My prescribed Resicort. I read many wonderful reviews about it. It is a leave in conditioner with cortisone. A lot of places are out of it, but it is available some places.

WOW, Lisa....this product looks SO interesting to me, thanks for posting this! I may have to try this for Wylie's skin issues, which are recurrent (he has chronic allergies...and recurrent pyoderma...wonder if this could help...?).

Thanks all for your great information. Sorry it took so long to reply as I was have some issues with my tablet. I will try the benadryl next time I have to give her the flea and tick med. I also am looking up the Virbac Resicort Leave in Lotion as it real does sound interesting. Thanks again for your help!

My vet prescribed this for Katie. I gave some to my close friend to try on her Bichon. He was biting his tail, and he lost a lot of hair. She said it improved by 50% the first day she put it on, and each time she put it on, it improved significantly. She was amazed and is ordering more. She has gone to the vet many times for hot spots, but nothing worked as well as this. I recently bought some Isle of Dogs #12 shampoo to use on Katie because of the evening primrose oil, but he also prescribed shampoo by Virbac. I have a small amount of conditioner left, but I'm going to buy more. I will send you some to try. Wylie has specific issues, and it's best to try it first to see if it helps. I'm very familiar with secondary bacterial infections due to allergies with one of my Rainbow Bridge babies.

If you think she could be having an allergic reaction to the flea and tick med it's better to just switch to a new one.
