Just a few questions...

-does anyone know of any CUTE purse like airline approved carriers?

-has anyone traveled with their baby as a carry on via plane ?

- is there anything that I should consider while traveling with my baby?

-iv heard of giving dogs Benadryl (I'm iffy about it) has anyone used it on their yorkie ?

I'm stationed in South Korea and will have to travel back to the states in November. Lana (my yorkie) is 1 years old and has never traveled. Any suggestions about traveling would be great ! Thanks in advance

I've never used Benadryl on any of my dogs, but a small dosage won't hurt her. There are also dog treats that can help relax the dog for a while, but I don't know when you would have them in your possession.

That will be a long trip.
Find the bag you want to use and start carrying your baby around in it every chance you get so they get used to it. I used to keep the bag on the sofa and hid treats join it so mine would get in and out of it for fun.

I started traveling when mine was very young so it is kind of old hat for her, but I suggest you go to your vet and see if they recommend something in case your pup gets restless or scared. You would hopefully not need it , butmwouldmhave it if you needed it.

Is she piddle pad trained? What will you do finished needs to go to the bathroom. Again, mine uses piddle pads so I just take her to the bathroom on the plane and tell her to "go potty" then just dispose of the pad where ever people dispose of diapers. If you have layovers some airports have outside potty areas, but you might have to come and go through check-in to get to them.

Pack some doggie diapers and moist wipes. I use them for traveling on planes. For that long of a flight, they definitely will come in handy. If your's does not potty on demand like mine.

Another suggestion - for that long a trip recommend you get an actual travel carrier. The "purses" are cute but you need room for your pup as she will be in it for a very long time.

The vet that did Dinky's LP surgery flies planes himself he told us he gives his dogs Benadryl when they fly. Good luck on your flight, and let us know how it goes!

Are you flying commercial or military? Military might give you a break with letting your pup out to sit in your lap. Depends upon the loadmaster, but they Are used to having dogs on their planes.

I have never found Benadryl to be helpful / make them drowsy or more settled. I do have to give Acempromazine (sp?) to one of my dogs when they fly, it's a must for him. It's a tranquilizer and if you give it, you do want to try it beforehand to see how your dog reacts and make sure they react fine to it.

For this long of a flight, it's tough to give advice as I've only flown in the US. Just be sure and check on your kiddo often to make sure they're not cold and/or overheating.

I would bring nutrical because my daughter's Yorkie gets air sick and 19 hours is a long time if your baby can't eat.

Wow, that is just a long flight for a young girl like your Yorkie. I really hope that they will be allowed out of their carrier for a bit to walk, go potty and just stretch their legs. But I don't have any particular advice other than that our vet prescribed Benedryl to our pup to help calm a cough and he did mention that it might calm her down a bit... though honestly, I didn't see it.

Hello! We just took Wall-e on his 3rd round trip flight, although actual travel time was only 7 hrs with a layover. It went well. I got him a mild tranq from the vet. It just calmed him down, didn't make him sleep though. Airline carriers vary in attractiveness. I do like the Argo, I found one for $30 on eBay. Sleepypod is a really nice one too, but only if you want to shell out the money for them. Wall-e travelled in the cabin with us. The first leg of the trip, the flight attendant was very nice and I was able to hold Wall-e in my lap. The 2nd leg the flight attendant had a major attitude problem, and started giving me a hard time about having a dog before I even got to my seat! So he stayed in the carrier. It all depends. A flight attendant friend of mine says the less of a big deal you make about bringing the dog on board the better. For instance when you are boarding, keep the pup in the carrier, zipped up. Don't advertise that you have them with you. But like I said, it depends on the person.
If you have a layover, I recommend using the disabled stall in the restroom (as long as no one needs it!) and put a pee pad on the floor for them to use quickly. I find the pet areas in airports are too far away to use. I brought treats with me and a water bottle for him that I had to wait to fill after we went through security. It went pretty smooth!
