New Mummy I have a little male, he turned 6 months old yesterday :) I have got such conflicting opinions about when to neuter him. He is 7 pounds. can you give me some direction? Appreciate the feedback :) |
I personally would call the vet and get him neutered as soon as you can get an appointment. If he is not lifting his leg then getting him neutered may mean that he never starts (some still do). If he is not marking stuff then he may not start that either. The longer you wait to get him neutered the more likely he is to do both of these things. I am getting my male puppy neutered the day he turns 6 months, he is almost 12 weeks right now, I just got him. |
Thank you... I will do just that. I will also check on his teeth as I heard it is best to try and get them out at the same time so he will only go through being asleep only once. I think I will be more nervous than my precious Morgan. |
Good luck! I know it is awful to think they are going through that. Much easier on the males than the females though. I have 2 almost 12 week old pups (boy and girl) so when I get them fixed it will be both and that will be a crazy day around here. |
I recommend to my new owners that 8 months old is a good time for neutering...you catch them before they are sexually mature and the growth plates have ceased to grow by then. |
I usually have them fixed around 8mths or so. :) |
Welcome & Congrats :) |
Dinky was neutered at 7 months, and he weighed between 3 and 4 pounds. It was scary, but it had to be done. He came through like a champ, and I'm sure your guy will too! |
