Apoquel needed please Might there be any extra Apoquel pills laying around in any of your homes? My poor Teena needs it & we have just 2 days until we're out. :( (It's unavailable for at least a few more weeks at our vet's.) I'd be happy to buy any of your extras. Thank you so much! |
Aw, what a bummer. Can your vet or vet tech call any other local Vet Derms to see if they can get you through? |
Still seems like there's a "national" backorder for these... I read Atopica(?) was really good too. Maybe that can substitute if you can't get the one you're looking for in time? |
Well, I don't like that Atopica is a steroid, plus it's recommended for year-round allergies. Teena will probably need to take Apoquel about 5 months out of the year. Otherwise I use Zyrtec, Benadryl, & every trick in the book to keep her comfy. And yes, it's a "national" backorder. My vet says the situation should get better soon. |

I've got my "facts" wrong I guess. I thought I had read & heard that about Atopica. |
I would definitely speak with the vet about Atopica. I am quite sure you won't find any Apoquel....I know a few people who would love to have some. |

Thanks for the info. Wow, I think when I first heard about allergy drugs I got it in my head Teena wasn't bad enough to need them. Somewhere I heard "year-round", "steroids" "expensive" & "Atopica" & I put them together as one fact. Yikes! Now the good news: the vet had the larger pills which I'm cutting into sixths. Not easy but desperate times call for desperate measures, right? We're trying a dose every 16 hours which ends up being early morning & late night one day, then mid afternoon the next. Hope this works as well as 2 doses a day did in the beginning. (Lately I only had enough for one dose a day which wasn't enough to keep her symptoms at bay.) My offer's still out there to buy any extras anyone may have! |
What's a mother to do? I read the above about Atopica with hopefulness. Then I read this: Is Atopica Safe For Dogs? - Dogs Naturally Magazine I'm not a vet, and I don't know, but I found that article really scary. Yet my poor babies need something. It seems there are no perfect options. |

Right. But several posters mentioned Atopica, so I looked it up and shared the information I found. Also this thread came up when I searched for "Atopica" on YorkieTalk. |
