another one bites the dust So I looked online and found a groomer who was praised repeatedly for her ability to deal with difficult dogs. I actually got an appointment for two days later. She sets firm appointments because she doesn't have any other animals there while yours are there so there's no other dogs to distract or make yours nervous during the grooming. That's pretty cool. So to start off I overslept only to be woken up with a call from her asking if I was still coming. So I panicked and said I'd be right there, hung up and told Toby and Izzy to pack their s**t we were going bye bye! They got all excited and wiggle butted around but they still didn't put their harnesses on themselves like I hoped. I did a quick groom on me and went for my keys and called my boyfriend in a panic. He had them. At work. s**t! So my neighbor took me. I was an hour late. And when I picked them up, Izzy was cute as always, and Toby looked like something off the labrynth movie. His body was shaved but not real smooth, and his face was still long and shabby. I knew then that Cujo had emerged and the groomer had not prevailed as I'd hoped for. And then I realized that the lady I had been using before this truly was a grooming god. Because whether I stay around for the abuse ( and I do mean abuse. Human abuse. Toby tries to destroy our flesh by any means necessary ) or leave her to her own defenses, my dogs come home impeccably groomed and smooth and beautiful. DOGS. As in Toby too. So I have a newfound appreciation for my side job groomer without all the fancy positioning equipment or pretty shop... Because I cheated on her with another groomer and my punishment is that Toby looks ridiculous and now I have to admit that I cheated on her and ask her to finish and fix someone else's failing. How humbling. |
Omg...too funny! I can just picture what that morning was like. I'm sorry your second dog didnt turn out well. Its so disappointing when you pick them up and they look worse then they went in. I'm lucky now to have probably the most patient, "zen like" groomer in the world. She's all about making the experience comforting to the dogs, and even starts out with a gentle massage with essential oils, lol. Honestly, she does. Spa music in the background...if she did humans, I'd love to go to her too!! Best part about Yorkies hair is, it does grow back. I'm sure your regular groomer will be happy to have you back, and pleased that you knew she could fix the mess the other groomer made....and you went back to her:) |
Well she'll be happy when I pay her twice her fee for Toby anyway. I make sure to compensate for his lack of manners when he goes into Cujo mode. |
I feel your pain. I cannot find a trustworthy groomer. Fortunately, my crew is pretty well behaved. But my first yorkie, Charlie, oh my! I got called at work to come pick him up because the groomer said he was too poorly behaved to be groomed. I would have been offended, but she was right. |
I feel your pain also. Cody is no blessing for the groomer. I recently started with a new groomer (his first one worked FOR a groomer and she left them, not that she did a good job on Codys face) I tell the new gal (who only takes one dog at a time, has no other dogs waiting so one needs to be prompt) I "think" he bites. I picked him up an hour later, he look beautiful, his face wasn't all uneven as it was with his first groomer. I asked how he behaved, she said he does try to bite when it comes to doing his face and forget about the blower, he goes insane. This is only his 3rd time going to a groomer since I have him. I hope over time he gets better. I don't know if prev. owner ever had him groomed. My last 2 girls were very good for groomers, so for me this is very embarrassing, I stress he is adopted lol, I don't want them to think I created this monster, cuz, I did NOT. Poor little Toby, maybe he had a traumatic grooming experience with his prev.owners. Poor baby to get so stressed like that. I hope over time Toby gets accustomed to going to groomer. |
I was petco one day and saw a yorkie being groomed. The lady was so rough with him I felt terrible. He didn't like getting his feet trimmed and would stand up on his hind legs and she would jerk him down. If I had the time I would have waited until his owner came and told her what a mean B this groomer was to her little guy. |
Oh goodness, I'm so glad my baby is mostly good with her groomer, she's only sensitive around her back legs lately because of her LP but otherwise is fairly well behaved. She does lightly nip me when I try to trim her paws myself, but she's never gone Cujo on me, just maybe a little more resistant. I had her with only one groomer ever since I first started taking her to get professionally done as a wee baby, as I want her to be with someone familiar to her. She gets really excited when she realizes where she's at when I bring her inside the parlor XD |
