Thinking of having a Frenchie Hi guys! :) Anyone here who has a french bulldog? Are they compatible with yorkies? Thanks! |
Apparently they are compatible, I just found an ad on CLs for Frenchie/Yorkie crosses - of course, I don't think that's the sort of compatable you were asking about. ;) Honestly, I don't see why they wouldn't be, just find a pup with a personality that works with the Yorkie you already have. And then, take lots and lots of pictures of them and post them so I can giggle along with you as they play. |
I don't know if French Bulldogs are like English in personality but, I'm watching my daughters English right now and he's a sweetheart. He's literally 6 times bigger then Sunni but very gentle with her. I do keep an eye on them when the play seems to be getting too frisky, lol. But from what I see a bulldogs laid back sweet personality is a great compliment to a sweet, feisty little Yorkie. |
My friend has Yorkies, has had Yorkies for years, and then took in a little Frenchie, and that baby is nothing short of a babydoll!! She loves that little pup and he gets along so well with the Yorkies. |
Well, it sure depends on the Frenchie you get. Some of them can be quite aggressive as they are bulldogs. I would be cautious. |

Jackson is a bigger Yorkie (18lbs) and used to hanging out with all sorts of dogs-- but he's REALLY uncomfortable with Frenchies or any bulldogs. I think the snorting, etc is off-putting to him, he thinks they are being aggressive even when they're not. They also have a really different playstyle, very rough and tumble, slamming into things which Jackson does not appreciate. They're adorable (but also ridden with health problems -- the 2 I dogsit have both have 3 surgeries and they're 2 years old) but I know a lot of dogs don't 'understand' them or their play style sometimes. |
I have two frenchies, and am waiting for my yorkie. I think introduced properly and they will be besties in no time. |
I have a French Bulldog and two Yorkies, they all get along well. |
