Circles! Maggie has always, been running in circles. When she is nervous, she walks in circles. When she is happy because I walk in the door, she sprints in circles. When its time to eat, she prances in circles. When she's bored...when she is in the bathroom with me...when we sit in the back yard. Sometimes she runs in circles. Some times she walks. Sometimes she's happy! Sometimes anxious. She has done this since we brought her home as a 4yr old mill rescue. Anyone else's yorkie do this? Now, if I take her for a walk she walks in a normal line along the sidewalk. But when I bring out her harness I have to say "freeze!" to get her to stop from circling so I can put her leash on! LOL I asked the vet - nothing neurological that she can suspect. Just curious if this is a "yorkie" thing. |
Teddy is a spinner (circles in place) when he is really excited. He will also do a slow circle to say "yes" to a question. :) The first time I let Max loose in our backyard, he sprinted in large circles around me. Maggie's habit might be a combination of 'normal' behavior and maybe because she had limited freedom of movement in the mill. :( As long as her bloodwork is normal, no head pressing, your vet isn't concerned about neuro problems, and she walks in a straight line when you take her walking -- then I wouldn't worry. |
Yes! Out in the yard she loves to run in circles around one of our adirondack chairs! She started wearing the grass down in a "path" so I keep moving chair around the yard to keep the grass green and full HAHAHA - she just cracks me up. I agree with you I bet in part the circles are from her small mill quarters. And maybe the rest is just silly doggie habits :) Thanks for sharing your response! |
Yes! Our Zeus loves 360s as I call them. If he does something and knows a treat is coming, he does jumping 360s until he gets the treat. When excited at the door when we come home, jumping 360s. He is also extremely talented at going backward (running or stepping backward slowly) -- it's hilarious. |
Yes! Mine does this all the time, usually if we ask him if he went potty on the pad (and is expecting a treat), if he wants to go outside or if he's excited we're home. I think it's adorable. |
LOL, my Mylee is a spinner. I always just assumed it was part of her enormous anxiety issues. I have a rug in front of my refrigerator, and while I am preparing her dinner she'll spin on that rug so fast she splatters saliva all over the fridge. It's really gross if I'm being honest. :D She has affectionately adorned the nickname spinner bait. :D |
