Want to know what I would do, if I were you? Honestly, I'd contact or go to my Vet's office and tell them what's going on here -- I'd ask if there was any type of medication they could dispense to you so that you coul (sadly/tragically) basically "overdose" your dog easily, smoothly, safely while at home. I do not know that there *is* such a med that they could recommend and dispense to you...but it's what I'd be asking about if it were me in this sad situation.
Another thing I'd be considering if it were me, is just bringing this sweet doggie to the Vet's office without my family's knowledge, and just taking care of things myself - bc it's the RIGHT THING to do, at the end of the day (for me, that is). | I'm not sure they have much reasoning other than it being, in their opinion, faster, more convenient, and less costly. (Yes, I fully realize that it's none of those things.)
I don't believe that it would be easy to overdose him, which is something that I would not consider doing, because of his weight. (He's overweight, most of his weight is in tumors that never affected him until about 6-7 months ago. We did ask our vet, and he said just to wait until they began to grow/spread or hurt him. We contacted him, and he suggested surgery for a younger dog, and death for an older dog.)
And as for taking him to the vet, or even having the vet come to us, would be hard to do it behind my family's back. This is unfortunate, but I will do all that I can to keep them from harming him in any way. |
