I'd worry people would try to inject it themselves, and that does concern me. | Most recommend being done by a vet, for those who breed (the one I got through AKC's store did suggest both) or at least those experienced enough. But for the most part, it's not hard to be able to obtain a microchip/syringe for pet owners to use, you can even obtain the microchip scanners, which can actually be helpful if you're either part of a "lost and found" program or just want to be able to help see if any dog you find may have an owner.
I'd never inject it myself, as I've mentioned, I've had my vet do it for me when she was under getting spayed (and they didn't charge me to do it since I bought the syringe/chip, myself). It was more cost effective and convenient for me and the chip is international so if she somehow winds up overseas she can be "tracked" there if she is scanned, but I can totally understand how it can be a concern for those who are doing it themselves and/or have no idea what they are doing. |
