I guess I am a mean Momma. . . Galen was allowed all over. He mastered the stairs so I thought. . . I was upstairs I hear thump thump and a cry.i never flew so fast. He fell down the stairs. I think only a few but never again. He is little and the stairs are very old so the rise is a little higher.thrn most. So now I block it off. He is only allowed on the lower level. I spend most of my time there.
He also has an ex pen in the kitchen. I use it at night and when I go out. I have kitties and they get into things. I have one that loves to pull leaves off plants. It is for Galen's protection. He is crate trained so he loves sleeping in his crate at night. No human bed for him. . There are kitties on the bed and MDBF thinks he might kick him off the bed in his sleep. But I have a bed near the couch for during the day. He gets picked up to get on my lap and put down. I did have once or twice he thought I need to chase the kitty now and leap . . My heart almost burst out of my chest. . . | I know this is an older post, but you're not the only mean momma! :D
I heard too many times of other's Yorkies breaking their legs and seeing how fragile and small boned Scottie & Casie's legs are, I choose to be overly protective. I am a worrier by nature. Neither of mine are allowed on the bed too, because we're afraid we'd either squish them or kick them off the bed. On the couch, they need to ask to be picked up. At night, both of them sleep in their own dog beds/crates.
It's funny because Scottie has become so used to sleeping in his own bed, a couple times I took him onto my bed because I wanted to cuddle, but the expression was hilarious - like he wasn't supposed to be on my bed and wanted to get off right away.
The story written by the original poster's friend was so very sad...I hope everyone can protect their babies the best they can and prevent any accidents at all from happening! |
