New from IL Hi everyone....My name is Joy and I have a sweet 1 1/2 yr old Yorkie named ZuZu. We are both going through a rough time right now. This past Saturday our 14 yr old Beagle (Oliver) passed away. ZuZu is taking it very hard. She refuses to eat and wanders the house looking for him. They were best friends and it's heartbreaking to see. My husband and I are just as upset as ZuZu. I know in time we will all be fine. So glad I found this site. |
Welcome to YT! Glad you found us So sorry to hear of the lose of your beagle. You are correct in knowing that time to mourn your loss is the key. It is always difficult to lose a beloved pup or a best buddy. ZuZu will be confused for a while. Hopefully some nice walks and ball throwing exercise will help to refocus. Best wishes to you and your family! |
welcome to yorkie talk sorry about the loss of your beloved Oliver, like with humans if a dog has a strong bond with another dog they will feel the loss. Just give her lots and lots of attention, if she enjoys playtime like fetch do that a little more, or if it's walks do that more, or if her thing is cuddling well cuddle more. Like with humans time and a bit of distraction/play peppered with a favorite snack will help. |
Welcome to YT! :) I am so sorry about the loss of Oliver and especially sorry for ZuZu...it is so hard on the pups to lose their friends. |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss - and I do hope that both you and Zuzu heal from this heartbreaking loss. |
Hello and welcome Sorry for your loss :( |
Thank you all for your kind replies and advice. It is much appreciated. :) |
Im also very sorry for your loss. It takes time for the surviving pups just like it does for us. I had two Shih Tzu's that were joined at the hips, they were so close. Even walking them they were so in sync that their tails would wag in the same direction at the same time. Harry, the little guy who lost his brother took it terribly. We lost George in January, and I got a new rescue puppy through a twist of fate. I wasn't looking or planning but here she is. I know now I was being selfish because the loss was so hard on me...I probably should have given Harry some more time before bringing a new puppy into the home. Its taken time, but he's finally starting to bond with her and becoming more like his old self. Like others said, do lots of favorites..Harry loves treats, walks and a good old fashioned tummy rub:) He stretches his whole body in joy, so he gets lots of them now. Time doesnt necessarily heal all wounds, but it softens them. |
Hello Joy and welcome, I'm so sorry about the loss of your precious Oliver. It's so sad ZuZu lost her friend too. |
Welcome to YT, so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Oliver. My last experience with losing a baby the remaining girl was depressed for 7 months, she had spent 6 years joined at the hip with her older sister. Due to my work schedule I was gone 15 hours a day, reason I could not get her a play mate. My time home was devoted to her, giving her a lot of extra play time, took her with me where ever I could. Gave her lots of cuddling and new toys. It took 7 months get get my baby back to her ole self. It takes time for them to recover and adjust. |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Time heals but we never forget them. Welcome to you and ZuZu. |
