My 2.5 Month old is sick.... =( Worried mommy....I'm new to the YT community and have attempted to create a thread two times Help! |
This thread is working...what are your pups symptoms? Has he/she seen a vet? |
Hi there! I brought my Chase home on Easter, he has been fine up until yesterday...=( He started dry heaving and purged what To look like a thick, white, yellowish saliva type substance, his energy level immediately dropped....He has the personality of a little pit bull! But his appetite good, he ate, he drank immediately after. Approx 2hrs later he purged what seemed to be his meal, followed by dry heaving with the same type of thick, white, yellowish substance...I called the vet was advised to watch him and if it continues take him in. His appetite there...I put a dash of yogurt with his next meal (Blue Buffalo)he kept this meal until 3am woke up dry heaving, I rushed him to the emergency 24hr vet..he is up to date on shots and was scheduled for his DPP & Corona today (canxelled)no temp, soft belly, strong heart, legs and lungs. Tested negative for parvo. In between these episodes his energy level completely drops...you can tell he doesn't feel well poor little guy and then he's up and running again. He woke up dry heaving again...same substance...he ate, held his meal for 6 hrs then the dry heaving again, next to nothing came out...my poor little guy..what can it be? So worried |
2.5 months old... If the pup is showing signs of any of these and had been hours then I suggest you take her/him to the vet right away. Lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea. |
I am definitely doing something wrong...I just replied with the whole story and I do not see it posted =( |
Worried mommy....I'm new to the YT community and have attempted to create a thread two times Help! He has been fine until yesterday he started dry-heaving, a thick, foamy, yellow saliva like substance. His energy level immediately dropped. His appetite seems to be good, he ate, he drank and approx. 2 hours later lost his meal, his energy level dropped once again...he bounced back (I called our vet) his appetite up as well as his energy...he kept his food until 3am, I woke up to him dry heaving with only a thick, foamy yellowish substance...rushed him to the 24hour emergency vet... His lungs, heart and legs strong. No fever, belly soft, alert and tested negative for parvo This morning same thing dry heaving the same type of substance almost next to nothing? It's taking so much out of his little body being 1.6lbs...a short while later he was up and running...ate and kept it for 6 he's now he's dry heaving again? Help! |
If the 24 hour vet didn't solve the problem, I would go to a different vet. The symptoms sound very serious. I know it's the weekend but try calling around. I wouldn't wait. |
When your new your first few post dont show up right away, but they are there now. I'm not a vet but it sound like he needs to be fed more often their little tummies are so small about a tbs my vet told me when Bella was that age. Bella would do that early in the morning so I gave her about 1/4 tsp of pepto the pink stuff and we started feeding her late at night before bed and she grow out of it as she grow and her tummy got big enough to hold enough food to take her through the night |
Thank you much Dayswalters.. MyBella...I also have a 7month old...the vet informed me to always leave food out to avoid hypoglycemia so I do, they both have food at all times...right now he is active, growling, biting, playing & running around as big as his big cage let's him....I'm waiting, watching and worried |
What food was he on when you brought him home? I am not sure about Blue Buffalo....I do NOT critisize dog food but I have read of frequent intolerance to the BB....if this is a new food for your baby, I would go back to what the breeder was feeding him. Leave him on what the breeder was feeding him until he is at least 6 months old...he has to get used to so many new things in his new home, dont make his diet an added issue! Leave him on what he is familiar with, as long as it is puppy food for extra nutrition....and free feed kibble.....he is still very young and needs to be eating whenever he wants to eat. |
Maybe an issue with the food... I'm not a big fan of blue buffalo personally but any brand could have a bad batch...maybe buy a new bag or try the brand the breeder was feeding or something new. |
Hi there! Thank you any bits of info truly appreciated.... The breeder was feeding this litter puppy chow (3 colors large)my 7 mo old on Eukenuba since she came home, she has not been wanting to eat lately...the breeder sent me home with a bag of food so over The past 13 days I have Been introducing them both to the blue ....more of what they are currently eating along with small portions of the new....Baby steps Any suggestions on food for later in down the road! Blue kept coming up as a top choice for yorkies? New mama on board Any suggestions greatly appreciated |
Royal Canin is what my breeder uses and a lot of vet offices stock it although what is on the vet office shelf and what is on pet store shelves is different, and you can get breed specific food Bella likes it. |
It sounds like perhaps his tummy is too empty btwn meals, causing some nausea maybe...? You could try feeding him more often and most def feed him something before bed time. Can also supplement w/ some Nutrical before bed and immed upon waking as this may help w/ empty tummy. How old is your pup again? |

Hope things have calmed down with your baby's tummy! I am very interested in where you heard/read Blue was a top choice for Yorkies? Stick with these folks on YT they know sooooo much and are willing to share/help. |
Hi there! thank you for all the info provided, much appreciated! Wylie's & Bella's mommy......I am hoping it is just what you both mentioned...My chase was good all night long until the a.m at which point he started dry heaving again....nothing, just dry heaving....it seemed to not affect him this time....he was up and about minutes later and has been a little terror all day! Would this still happen when he has food out at all times? I have my fingers crossed and my eyes peeled....watching the little guy like a hawk! regarding food.....I believe I obtained the info on google while roaming the isles of Petsmart..this info came up more than once among others....BB kept popping up.... as far as putting him back on the puppy chow his breeders had him on....would this be a good idea since I already graduated him to the BB within the past week and a half to switch back? again? Thank you much for all the responses =) |

All three vets where I take my dog do not recommend BB. I'm sorry I fed it to them knowing what i know now. |
Whatever you decide to put your pup on for food, just remember to do it gradually. I think you probably already know this but didn't think it would hurt to remind. :) |
This why I started giving Bella soft food in the morning so she would eat it up right away and settle the acid in her empty tummy and we did use a bit of pepto that also coated her tummy. |
Thank you Magnus...I did what I thought to be a gradual process over a 10 day period....more of the Chow and small portions of BB....until it was on the flip side...now I see it was not such a good idea for my Lil guy =( Thank you Bella's mommy I may try this to see how it works for him should this persist |
Thank you much doodlebug....wow! Good to know! If only...=( I definitely want to feed them the best and have them both on the same food but will wait until Chase is at least 6mos...so its suggested to go back on the puppy chow? |
I know, I thought it was good food too from their commercials and talking to reps at Pet smart, Petco and at the Pet Expo. I fed it to them for several years. Now one of my dogs has liver issues and is on a prescription diet. Vet can't figure out why she has liver problems but said not to feed BB. I think some of the others here would be better to ask about a good food. I just wanted to let you know about my experience with Blue. What company makes the food your puppy was eating? |
Thank you soooo much! Wow! Sorry to hear that, thank you for sharing...my 7mo old was on Eukanuba small breed 1-12mos the puppy chiot for petite race |
Thanks. I'm sure some others here can offer advice on a good food to switch to. |
