please help! I don't understand.... Hi, I really need some tips on how to handle this situation... my little girl is pad trained due to her being 13 weeks and not having all of her shots yet. She does excellent when we keep her crated and let her out to potty and play hardly ever having an accident. The problem is yesterday I put her in my kitchen behind a baby gate so she could have more room. She had her bed, toys, pad, and water. She did not use her pad, instead she used the floor near the pad😠 then this morning she pee'd 2x on my floor... why is she doing that when I know she knows to go to her pad? |
She is still SUPER young at 13 weeks and will absolutely have mistakes, so you kinda have to learn how to roll with this. She is too young/immature to put it all together at all times right now. |
Thank you Wylie's mom I know she's young, she just does so perfectly when I crate her but as soon as I give her a little room she potty's in the house. I know she will get it... |

Dinky is just about perfect when it comes to potty training, but it took a long time. I had to go back to square one a couple of times. We had a blanket that draped over 3 sides of his crate, and he used to go to the back and pee on the blanket. The funniest thing he did was to poop mindlessly when he ran around!. When we stopped laughing, we took him outside. She will do fine, just stick with it! It can get frustrating. |
It takes time :). My pup is a bit younger than yours and she'll sometimes pee/poop right in front of her potty patch but she's still in her designated bathroom area. Just keep working at it and praise her like crazy when she actually relieves herself in the area you want her to. Good luck! |
My Piper understands the whole housebreaking concept and is excellent when I'm home; she even wakes me with little, decibel increasing, ga-ruffs. However, although she's made her opinion of my going to work quite clear, what with her under-the-couch-head-lowing-looking-at-the-wall-refusing-even-chicken behavior (occurs every work night about 1/2 before I leave)...Piper evidently still feels the need to remind me by having "accidents" off the pad, probably once or twice every two weeks. Geez!! I know she had difficulty training me in the beginning---silly me, I thought I was in charge--but we pretty much do things the Piper Way now and life is good!!! And everyday I love her more and everyday she makes me laugh out loud and how, I wonder, did I ever manage without her....!!! |
