Recently Lost My Casey I'm new to this site, so I hope to catch on soon. I live in the Sacramento area of California. I've had 2 Yorkies since 1999, however, I recently lost my last one, Casey, who had an inoperable tumor. I've experienced a horrific grieving process for the last couple of months & I'm finally ready to welcome a puppy into my home. I've educated myself on all red flags of breeders, however, I'm looking for a reputable one in the Sacramento or Bay Area. If there is anyone who can refer me to any breeders, I would be most appreciative for ANY info. Additionally, I've never had a teacup size Yorkie & would like to know of any health issues, good or bad, that anyone has experienced with their smaller dogs. I see many Yorkies available at: TINYYORKIEKISSES.COM, but have not found any unbiased reviews for this business. Again, any info. re. any websites would be very much appreciated. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk . I am so sorry for your loss . |
Hi and welcome to YT. :) I'm so very sorry for your loss, how tragic. I'm glad you will soon have another fur kiddo to fill your heart though. Have you looked at ytca.org for breeders in your area yet? Also, read this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...uy-yorkie.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...ant-puppy.html |
Welcome to YT. I'm so sorry for your loss. Many here understand your feelings. |
Hi welcome to YT I am sorry to hear of your loss and the hard time you are going through. I am sure a new baby to kiss and kiss and kiss will help. |
So sorry for your loss. I read somewhere, maybe on here that there is no such thing as a Teacup, don't really know but I do know that my niece bought a supposedly Teacup and now that Teacup weighs 9lbs., I think if there is such a thing that it is suppose to weigh much less. So be careful with whom you deal with and check things out really well before you purchase. Good Luck with finding a new baby to fulfill your loss. |
Recently lost my Casey So sorry to hear. We lost our Jazzy in January. We have a new baby and while we still miss her so much, a puppy can do wonders for a broken heart. I wish you the best. |

Thank u so much for your kind words. Re. the "teacup" Yorkie. The reason I asked that question is, I read the same thing: There is no 'teacup" size. I am leary of those that advertise puppies as teacups, but don't know if I should completely rule them out. Again, thanks for the info. |
Thank u so much for your understanding. It was hard enough when I lost my little Bailey, but then losing my Casey Just left me empty. My house doesn't feel like a home anymore. |
Thanks for info...interestingly enuf, my brother's nickname is Bubba and I call his wife Sissy |
I too am sorry for your loss and best of luck with your new puppy |
I will and thanks again so very much. |
I want another Yorkie, but just can't find a breeder here in Sacramento area. |
The YTCA is a great place to start. You can get lots of information from their website. There are breeders listed there from your state. These are show breeders but they also sell pet puppies or even retired breeders to approved homes. There are also 2 Yorkie Clubs sanctioned by the AKC listed for your state. https://www.apps.akc.org//apps/clubs...uestTimeout=90 If you scroll down on the page the following link goes to you will find several conformation clubs in California. https://www.apps.akc.org//apps/clubs...uestTimeout=90 These clubs have breeder referral contact people. If you go to the club's website you can find the contact person. That info may also be on the page the link goes to if you look for it. They will give you names of breeders that they feel comfortable recommending. Most show breeders very much welcome pet buyers. They usually price their pet pups at a reasonable price considering that they usually have very good breeding and will come with a good health guarantee. Get references and check out any breeder very well before making any decisions. Always try to check out more than one breeder in order to get a feel for what you are dealing with. There are so many ugly scams out there put together by very clever people. Small dogs are big business these days and some very disreputable people that make themselves sound so very good are involved in the "industry." Best wishes on you search. Take your time and don't let anyone rush you. Getting on a waiting list is sometimes a good idea and can lead to a really nice pup. A very good reputable breeder often has people on waiting lists but they are well worth waiting for. |
