help me please I don't know what to do... Hi all I got my boy pup yesterday at 9 weeks old. The lady we bought him from did not take great care of them as this poor guy was drowning in fleas and little red ticks. So I took Mr to the doggy parlour. The lady was godsend as she herself own 4 yorkies and she took care of the ticks. Hours after we got home he started acting strange. He would be sleeping and just get up start growling or crying and the he would have a seizure. Foam forms around his mouth and this lasts for a couple of seconds and then he gets up and starts running around. When this episode is over he goes back to sleep. I read that you must check his gums for pinkish colour to see if he ok and if it's white it's cause for alarm. Well the gums have a good balance of both. Can he be having seizures or could he have been poisoned by the stuff they used to was him. He's been sleeping alot but from what I understand thats normal. I cannot get hold of the lady I bought him from to find out if he was dropped or his parents have a history of seizures. I have changed food also and his poop is runny. He eats and drinks Just don't know anymore |
You should not change his food right away. That by itself can cause diarreah. At 9 weeks your puppy is in serious danger of dying due to low blood sugar levels if he is not getting the nutrition he needs. However, the symptoms you are describing require a vet immediately. Please let us know what happens. Take him to a vet ASAP. |
Thanks will keep you updated. The reason I changed food was because the food he was given was not meant for Lil guys like him. We Specially went to a vet to get proper food for our Lil guy. I am heartbroken, I only have him for a day and cannot imagine how empty my home will be without him. Thanks |
He needs to go to the vet now |
Oh dear, yes poor little buddy :( what a sad condition for him to arrive in! MAke sure he is having pees and poops and that he is getting some food and water in that tiny little belly, keep him warm and safe under watchful eyes and get that sweet little baby to a vet. I hope all goes well, I know with new posters there is a delay for your messages to post but I will be looking forward to an update on your guy. Best wishes your way! |
Hi all Just got back from the vet, tests could not pick up on anything abnormal. Scans normal. Nothing that they could even see in his blood tests. He did not have another episode yet after 8h30 am this morning. |
I hope you have him on the right track. Considering the state you found him in, it's not surprising he still is not feeling great. I am so glad you have him and are taking care of him. |
He could have been hypoglycemic -- when was the last time he at before the seizure. I would get the seizure on your phone's video next time, if it happens, so you have it to show to the vet. Make sure you have Nutrical or Karo on hand! Is he eating and drinking now? |
I sure hope all is well with your baby lots of good advice hear at YT Welcome |
I would keep food out for him 24/7 and of course water also. And have a tube of nutrical. If you don't think he is eating much give him a dab of that. His life has changed huge in a few days from going to a new home to being at a place to get rid of the fleas and ticks. He could be very stressed. Taking him to the vet was a must and I agree video tape the seizure if it happens again Let's hope it does not. Keep us updated on how he is doing |
It very likely could have been a toxic reaction to flea & tick treatment. Most products are not advised for young puppies, especially dips and shampoos. I would not withhold food in a young pup due to risk of hypoglycemia, which could have been the cause of the problem in the first place. The loose stool will likely clear up as he adjusts to the food, and you could supplement with feeding him some boiled chicken and rice, which they love. Stress of going to a new home can also cause runny stool. It's good that you had a vet check him out right away. Hope all works out. Thanks for updating. |
Our baby has been fine since his last episode. Nothing yet. Alex been quite fine after all the stress. I don't think I have ever prayed ad much in my entire life... no seizure yet since 8h30 am. Mixing his food now with wet and dry propac pup formula. Eating much more than he did before. Stupid woman I bought him from only fed him once a day. Is propac any good? Thanks to all for the concern it'd much appreciated my daughter aged 7 was quite traumatised that her baby was not well. |
we have not named him yet but after all the drama we decided we will name him after "alexander the great" |
