Help with vomiting I have had Luna now for almost 3 weeks, and i've been feeding her Science Diet for small breeds. She seemed fine on it, her poop is not too firm or too soft. Yesterday night, she stopped eating; I was a little concerned, but I figured she was just not really hungry. But, then this morning I saw a spot of vomit next to my bag; I didn't think anything of it and I left her food out (I never do this, but she didn't eat this morning as well), but my grandma just called me at work saying that Luna's vomiting.:( I'm really concerned about what might be wrong, especially since this is my first dog. She has an appointment for a general checkup on Saturday morning. Any suggestions before then would be very helpful. Thanks all |
Is it yellow bile or does it have food and stuff in it. When Bella was little if she didnt have enough to eat she would bring up bile. I would give her some pepto the pink stuff about a 1/4 tsp and it would settle her tummy enough to eat again. But a vet visit may be in order. |
If this is a puppy who is not yet fully vaccinated she should be seen today. |
She's approximately four years old, and is fully vaccinated. She's vomiting some of her food. I also noticed that her poo this morning was softer than normal. |
Ah! Okay I don't mean to be a freak but I just posted a thread about the dog flu breakout in Chicago. Make sure she is hydrated and call your vet. Hydration is the number one issue. |

Luna Poor Luna, so sorry she is feeling bad. Probably it is just a tummy bug, but it could be other things such as Pancreatitis. I am sure you will get blood/urine/fecal tests on Saturday, but if she should get worse I would call the vet and take her in asap. In the meantime have you tried boiled chicken breast and rice as a bland diet? If she sees the vet soon he can give Cerenia to stop the nausea and vomiting. Good Luck and please let us know how she is doing. Hope she feels better soon. |

I've had a number of dogs and cats. When one of them vomits, I always pay attention to see if there other symptoms. Most of the time it's just an upset tummy or something they ate. If they are eating normally and not lethargic, it's probably something that will past. Just keep an eye on them to see if any other symptoms develop between now and Saturday. If they do, get to the vet before Saturday. Do you have an emergency vet in case you have to rush to the vet in the middle of the night? Be sure to have all that info stored. I got home about an hour ago, and she was normal....dancing when I walked in. She's as energetic as she usually is, and I gave her some boiled rice, which she ate. So far so good, i'll keep an eye out for any vomiting. Thanks everyone. |
Might want to give a spoon of pumkin , that helps tummy issues too.... Maybe that food is just not agreeing with her.... |

I wouldn't think so...when my little Zoey was doing that, she got gravely ill fast ...was in Er for two days on IVS . When she got to go home they had her on Hills Prescription ID for gastrointestinal health, canned. I was floored! I didn't believe them till I got her home and saw she loved it and it was agreeing with her.after about 2 months she got tired of it though and stopped eating it but at least it got her out her bad spell. I didn't touch anything I had fed her in the past and after much studying went with Natures Variety Instinct kibble....she likes to crunch. I did have her on the hills kibble when she started getting " sniffy" but she didn't want it anymore. She loves this and has been on it for several months now. I think if they are throwing up its your cue that food is not agreeing with them , switching frequently isn't either....hope this helps.... |
