Help--Depressed Papa Yorkie My girly gave birth to 1 pup this morning at 7:45 am. The papa doggie isn't allowed near to it, nor our cats. Mama Bean is being awful to other family members--not to me. I am the only one allowed to check her and the puppy. Pappa doggie is now sulking and whining. Any suggestions on how to restore peace in the house... |
Sorry, I've never bred a dog, so have no idea how things are after the whole birthing process. Hopefully someone with experience in this area, will be along soon to offer some advice. You might want to try posting this in the breeding section to get the attention of breeders. Welcome to YT :) |
As far as momma is concerned, this is normal behavior for her. My females are always isolated from other animals, pets, family members, etc....I am the only one allowed around the momma and pups. Too much stress caused by "invasion of her privacy" by other animals and family members, can cause a nervous momma or a new momma to eat her young. Everyone will just have to get over it, go entertain themselves, and allow this momma to care for her baby......and the males of the litter have been known to kill pups....so allow this momma her space and keep all other pets and dogs away from her....give her quiet time and peace with her baby....all she may need/want is YOU! |
Very good advice Yorkiemom1. |
