I'm asking too...... 1 Attachment(s) Is Cricket a yorkie or a silky? She just turned two the end of March and the last time she was at the vet ( which was a while ago) she weighed about 8 lbs. I don't have papers on her, but I saw both the parents. There were 5 puppies in Cricket's litter, and her mom weighed about 6 lbs and her dad 7 -71/2 lbs. it makes NO difference whatsoever, I would just like opinions please. Thank you This pic is kinda blurry I just wanted a good picture of her length Attachment 405043 |

She looks a lot like my Tiki, who is a 100% Yorkie, AKC registered. |
I keep wondering the same thing about my Sunni. I adopted her so, she has no paper and the story of her history is murky. I was told mines a Yorkie, even by the vet. But, her snout is longer. I started looking at pictures of Silkies and I still don't know, lol. From the pictures I see of Silkies though, your dog seems to be shorter and definitely looks Yorkie looking to me…..but I am far from knowledgeable since I can't tell what my own dog is, lol. |
Hard to tell by pictures, and these pics are small, Cricket looks like yorkie. My last girl was 100 % AKC registered yorkie, as a 8 week old puppy she was huge, because of her size my vet asked if she was a silkie, as an adult she weighed 17 lbs. she had a longer snout, but she was a big dog. Silkie / yorkie, matters not, they have the same hunt drive, same personalities, same quirky ways, lil clowns. As Cricket gets older, compare what she looks like to pic of Silkies, She's a little cutie for sure. Love her for who she is. |
From what I understand, silkies have a longer snout and the bodies are more rectangular. Yorkie's have a shorter snout and have more of a square body. My last Yorkie I think was a silky. She certainly fit the description given on the silky terrier site. Either way it didn't matter to me. Just google for silky terriers. |
She looks yorkie to me. I have a friend that has a silkie and the difference is really noticeable. |
