purebred or mixed 1 Attachment(s) I purchase a puppy on Saturday. The person selling her did not have her papers. She indicated that the puppy was 100% pure Yorkie. I took her to the vet on Monday. The girl that did her weight said she did not think she was pure Yorkie. she mentioned something about her hair. when did that came in she said in her opinion she is a Yorkie. is there a way to find out for sure? And can you guys look at these pictures and tell me what you think? She is 3.6lbd |
Has she had a haircut? and how old is she? I'm not an expert so I won't make a guess, but she's still a little cutie. |
Welcome to YT. A picture is just that, a picture, sometimes hard to tell. Puppy looks like a yorkie, just off standard, looks like she has long legs, but that could be because she is sitting, gives the appearance she has longer legs, not a big deal, My last little girl had very long legs and she was big, 17 lbs as an adult, and so does my adopted boy, that does not mean they are not 100 % yorkie. The hair, doesn't determine the breed, some puppies are fluffier then others. This person who sold you the puppy with no papers sounds like a back yard breeder (BYB). Were you able to see the puppy's parents, if so what did they look like. The ony way to tell if she is full breed or mix is to do a DNA on her. We have some members that have more knowledge on this then I do. The gal at the vet, her hair comment may be because the yorkies she has seen had long flowing hair, this is just a baby, her hair is short, but it will grow. If your vet said the pup looked yorkie to her, I would go with what the vet thinks. As the puppy grows, the hair changes. You will love this little girl regardless. |
Aw, what a little cutie patootie :D! It's hard to tell for sure if she is all yorkie, but I def see yorkie there. |
1 Attachment(s) You could get a blood test, but really, it doesn't matter now. She's a lovely pup and she depends on you. Mine was advertised as a rescue yorkie, I knew he wasn't from the photos, I went and saw him and that was all she wrote. LOL Tried to load a few of the original photos from the rescue of mine, too large of file, only one made it. That was my first view and I was hooked! |
I would say a poorly bred Yorkie |

She kind of looks like a yorkie mix. She is a cutie. Some of my best pets were mixed breed. Did the person charge you the price of a yorkie? In that case I would question her. Also what did the vet say? Your vet should be able to let you know if she is a pure yorkie or mixed. How old is she? I have a yorkie and a bichon frise. In my opinion bichons go thru an awkward stage when they aren't so cute and fluffy. Maybe your yorkie baby will blossom |
