Grooming Rear Not a pleasant subject, but I need help on removing stuck balls of poo from Busters rear end. He's still in the squirmy stage and I'm afraid to go near him with a scissors. Comb will hurt and wipes just seem to smudge it. I can only remove with a butt bath and it still pinches. I can't wait to get him to the groomers. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
The butt bath is the only thing that really cleans my long haired dogs. I do have a small pair of snub nosed scissors which I use in that area..less chance of accentually poking her. Also using wipes if needed right after she goes, will help prevent the problem. |
Yep butt bath works best, and baby wipes every time he goes potty. |
Maybe this might help? You can buy this at amazon. It does seem pricey but if you can afford it, why not?! "Scaredy Cut Silent Pet Clipper" |
Then sani-trim after the butt bath to keep problem from occurring again. |
Thank you all for suggestions Decided to bathe him. He's a hellion when he doesn't want to do something! Used the peanut butter smear on the side of the sink to help and it reminded me of all my daughters and granddaughters with gum in their hair. Did I try it? Peanut butter does not work on poop! Finally had to cut it out. I did spend the bucks on a Scaredy Cut sissors. Thanks for that tip. I can't wait for next week and the groomer to buzz him. I do wipe him after every poop but those little dingleberries still get there somehow. Ok, enough bathroom talk. I couldn't find the subject in the Libraries. Hence, the question. Thanks all. I always do the butt baths when necessary too usually only with digestive upsets. Cutting any hair around that area seems to make the poop stick worse. I have always kept mine with long coats. I also believe if you have him on a good dry dog food, and not adding can or people food, his stool will be firm and the correct consistency not to be a problem at all. Also you will never have to worry about anal glands as a stool with the right consistency does this naturally. |
I do butt baths and bath washes. I also trim the hair from around the butt hole so nothing gets stuck there. Thankfully both my girls have pretty firm poop most of the time. |
