Maggie knows sometimes that we want to pick her up. Sometimes she lets us, sometimes we have to trap her between us. It's often a game and I chase her around until she is between me and dad and she knows she is caught. Anyway, when she knows we are going to pick her up (like when Dad comes home I pick her up and hold her up to his face, or when we "trap" her), she will stop and sort of turn around, with her rear to me so that I can pick her up from behind, under her tummy and end up holding her the right way. She is standing in the position to be picked up. Could your dog just be waiting to be picked up when he stops? |

I also love yorkietalkjillys posts! She seems to really have a good grasp of what's going on in those tiny little minds! One small suggestion...when I was training my little girl..there were multiple treats to enforce each "Good behavior" and there were Lot's of "Good behaviors" Sit, come, stay, shake, wipe your feet, up, twirl, speak, bow, etc...when you're talking 30 or 40 treats a day (Minimum) plus the ones she gets for "Doing business" outside or on potty pad... that can be a lot of calories, She started getting pudgy( she went from 3 lbs to 4 and the vet told me she was losing her waist) So we started using cheerios. That took care of the issue and she was her healthy 3ish pound for the rest of her life. After she started having kidney issues later in life we switched to those organic baby puffs. No salt no sugar and sweetened with fruit. Best of all a 1/2 cup of them (about 80 pieces) only has 25 calories. Hope that helps a bit. :) |
