question about vinegar?? I've read on this forum that after you shampoo your carpet, use vinegar and water to get out any pet odor. Has anyone tried this before? if so does it work? I do use pet cleaner. but they seem to go back to the same spot, doesn't seem to get out there smell.. any suggestions? |
I know I had a kitten to pee on my couch and I couldn't get the smell out. I finally used some vinagar and water and the smell disappeared. Smelled like vinegar for a few days but it was well worth it! |
vinegar Thank you so much, i am going to be scrubbing my livingroom down this weekend, an i've tried everything,,, i'm going to give it a shot.... i don't care if it smell like vinegar for a couple of days.. as long as it gets the pet smell out... thanks again... :) |
This is a known cure for stains and odors, according to many manufacturers you should add 1 to 2 oz of vineger to a gal. of warm water, saturate the spot with this solution and then place a clean white towel on the spot with a heavy object and let it sit to help wick the soultion out...repeat as necessary. Its does work. :D |
Vinegar on a tiled floor is fine because the smell goes away eventually, but I wouldent put in on a carpet or furniture.I spilled vinegar on my couch in the summer and the smell lasted for weeks! I spilled it on the part of the couch that I cant strip and wash (the back part) and although I scrubbed it the smell lasted and lasted:( I guess if you mix it with water its not as strong, but I know that Lady and Jess licked that spot for ages! I think they like vinegar! |
yes vinegar is great, i mix part water with it when lexi used to go on the rugs. works great, i also put a little in a bowl and leave it there until it desitegrates... it takes the smell out of the room... i usually have one in everyroom just for like house odors and stuff like that... |
vinegar ok what if you shampoo it first with vinegar and then when back over it with the regular carpet shampoo ? |
I use a spray bottle with vingar and water and when my pom has an accident I just spray and use a clothe to absorb the wetness. Works great and my pom is almost 13 lbs so her accidents aren't small. |
i dont shampoo it, just wet it good with vinegar and water, it works |
We needn't worry about vinegar. It is in many foods we eat (oil and vinegar salad dressings for example) and is harmless (though not too tasty in itself). I put a little vinegar in my bird's drinking water. But - believe this or not, I can't remember why I do it. I know I started doing it for some health reason, but have done it for so long that I can't remember why. Carol Jean |
