I have created a monster!!!! LOL I took her outside for the first time ever (other than trying it when it was cold and she wouldnt move!) and she LOVES it. Now every afternoon she wants out. She will go stand by the door until I hook her up to her BB and out we go, she explores while I sit and watch. So funny and cute baby. I have a couple micer outdoor cats and of course they are huge so I have my bottle of water to spray them with beside me and after a couple days of that they just ignore her. It is also good for me as I am disabled and need to get out in the fresh air more and walk a little. |
LOL - In my opinion Yorkies are born little monsters and Yorkielovers just nurture them along! With a terrier, once of anything quickly becomes a habit if it's something they like :). She sounds so cute in her love of the outside with all its excitement, energy, smells, sounds and sights. Nothing cuter than a feisty dog having a ball outdoors. Yorkies are amazing companions in life, aren't they? |
Monster lol, they are little hunters and love the out doors, you will get much enjoyment as I do watching their lil hunting antics. |
Wonderful! There is nothing more fun than watching these little ones enjoy the outdoors. You made me think of when I first took Max outside. He didn't want to take 2 steps. My father laughed and said he would an indoor dog. After a couple more tries, Max walked all the way around the neighborhood. From that day forward, he was also an outdoor monster. :) |
1 Attachment(s) The 1st time we took them outside together they each grabbed an end of the same stick and ran around the yard together before they stopped and started chewing together |
I'm on my feet for 8 hrs/night, work graveyard, and am truly tired when I get home. But Piper loves going for walks and after allowing me a 1/2 of recovery time...off we go. Inevitably during our excursions, I start to feel better overall and refreshed--I tell my little girl how very good for me she is, and lemme tell ya, she really is...! I'll bet your little one gets you outside, then off the porch and then goodness, who knows!?! You both sound very sweet! Every time I told my cocker spaniel, Taffy, my very first dog, that we were going for a walk, she would launch into a celebratory dance that ended with her racing around the room, always clockwise, and faster and faster, as if her joy could not be possibly contained. Even as a young boy I knew that hardly any creature could express joy so vividly as a dog. Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson |
Jkpal you are so right!!! Your baby sounds so sweet! Spice will now go to the door about 2pm and stand there until I get her BB off her hook ! She loves her excursions! And yes it is so good for me as I am disabled and need to be as active as possible. I so dread when the cold weather comes back as I dont know what she will do. Maybe this has broken the ice and she will still want to go out for awhile! |
It sounds like Spice rejuvenates you. Katie does the same for me. No matter how exhausted I am, I come alive walking or playing with Katie. All Katie needs is to do something once that she likes for it to become our habit. We are also big fans of Buddy Belts. |
Maybe this has broken the ice and she will still want to go out for awhile... I'll bet your little girl will want to go, go, go---even if the walks are shorter when it's colder! I find with Piper, that even the shortest walk is pretty gosh darn good (for both of us). Once again, I find that the older I get, the smarter my mom gets! She always says, the more you do, the more you'll feel like doing...So true! Have fun and please share your strolling stories and progress you make! I truly believe these yorkie babies weave some kind of wonderful spell or magic or something...that makes those of lucky enough to live with them, better---just overall better with health, understanding, better people! |
My two yorkies love to go outside and run around the backyard so much that they constantly are standing at the back door like they do when they have to go potty just to go out to play. I never know if they really NEED to go out or if they just want to go out to play. I am always afraid to not take them out just in case they do have to go out and then it takes me about 15 minutes to get them back in the house. It is never a 'quick' outside. They just love the outdoors; rain, snow, or sun. The only time they didn't like staying out were the days when it was below zero with the wind blowing. |
wiggly..."Amount of time it takes for a dog to "do its business" is directly proportional to outside temperature + suitability of owner's outerwear." ~Betsy Caņas Garmon....Yes!!!!???!! Me, too, with little Piper---! |
I dont know why but she has yet ( in 2 weeks of outside every day and 3 walks a day) to pee or poo outside! She will come in and use her pad! I read an article just yesterday that said not to pad train as this would happen. Has it happened to any of you?? We will be out an hour or more ( depending on weather) at a time and that little snot will hold it til we get in!!! You are all so very right about THEY train YOU LOLOL |
