My Max will not eat his food. We are feeding him Waterfowl Taste of the Wild. So I add a teaspoon of the grease I use to fry chicken to his food. He gobbles it right down. I am afraid that this might not be good for him. Any opinions?

no, no, no GREASE, this can cause Pancreatitis, try sprinkling some Parmesan cheese on his food, this usually perks up their appetite . Please, never use GREASE.

You could try adding just a touch of plain yogurt to the food. Not even a teaspoon, just enough to give it a tiny bit of flavor. I have to give my large dog a heaping tablespoon of plain yogurt to his food twice a day because he has recurring urinary issues and this has made it so instead of constant infection he gets rare infections.

Anyway... my Yorkie was always trying to get to his food because of that so I just wipe the spoon into my yorkies food after I feed the big dog so the yorkie loves to get a treat with about a dozen pieces of his food covered in a trace of yogurt twice a day now.

Most dogs love the flavor of the yogurt. Because of yorkie sizes though I wouldn't give them a lot of it where my 80 lb dog gets a lot more than my yorkie does.

This would be much better than grease for the dog.

You might try a few sprinkles of grated parmesan cheese, but definitely NO grease or frying oil.

He may not like that food either? Alot of place will give you samples of good foods like Mud Bay

My dog likes a little wet food mixed with hid dry wellness food. I add a little water. Try that. I just had spud to the vet very sick with pancreatitis. Even the Costco chicken is too fatty. Be very careful not to feed fat foods or you will have big problems.

The Parmesan cheese worked well for me when I had trouble with Macy eating her food.

try some green beans with no salt, grease is not good

Some suggestions are Wellness Mixers & Toppers, they are pure pureed meat like turkey, chicken, lamb or beef and are intended to be topped or mixed in foods, though work good as a training treat in little bits. PetSmart should carry them. Chicken broth that's low/no fat/sodium is also another option. Like others say, a bit of Parmesan or yogurt for flavor. A little cottage cheese is another decent suggestion.

I give my two Yorkie's a mix of ground puppy food, mixed with boiled chickwn breast and rice, and boiled, mashed carrots. The love it. I leave them puppy kibble and watery if they get hungry. They love there mix but only very it once a day. My training treats is boiled Chicken i break into small pieces. They don't care about size but that they get treats. 17 weeks old, they know sit and shake, next is Lay down. I have found training ticks to have helped in both showing I'm boss and has massively improved there potty habits. They are great girls And I'm very happy to have them in my life. They are Blue and Gold miniatures and have great personalities. Jewel and Bella are great kids. They just switched from Royal Cain Starter Puppy food to Royal Cain Miniature Puppy Food. They love it. Breeder told me to and over the past will have done a mix. They don't care, they seem to eat the new stuff over the old stuff. They have grown a pound in the first month I've had and live everything. I give them carrots, skined and boiled ans mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, cheese, peanut butter, and a single drop off honey as treats. Remember, they are 3 pounds, 5 ounces, so I'm really strict on how much they get. The boiled Chicken there's no limit though. Boiling chicken breasts should remove any and all fat so that's not a worry for me. Can also boil beef or Pork but I'm waiting for them to be sick of chicken first.

No on the grease. Maybe try a spoonful of unsalted chicken broth. I sometimes make my own jerky in a food dehydrator, then run it through a food processor to make dust. I add a pinch of that to my brats' food. Also, maybe try a small bit of yogurt or a bit of coconut oil. Or maybe crush up his favorite dog treat (just one) and mix it in with his kibble. YTs are notoriously picky eaters.
