Help- need shorter haircut ideas keeping topknot 1 Attachment(s) Hi all! Ok, I need some grooming advice and ideas. My boy is nearly 2, and although I truly love the traditional look of his long, silky hair, I have been debating whether I should finally take the plunge and cut most of his hair short (but still keep his top knot). I have given him several trims, and keep his underside (chest and tummy) shaven for hygienic reasons; however, because his hair hangs so long on the sides now, he gets stinky too quickly after a bath (pee from lifting his leg to potty :thumbdown) unless I keep it tied up on the sides all the time. I don't want him to look drastically different, and I want to keep plenty of hair around his face and beard. I have googled for ideas but I can't really find anything that jumps out at me. I would love it if you all would share some photos and ideas. I have attached a photo for you to see what my boy currently looks like. He is a small skinny boy but has longish legs so i am afraid if I shave his back he'll look silly, but then again, maybe he won't.. I don't really know.... Never thought this would be such a dilemma for me. :p thanks to anyone who responds! :) |
What a beautiful lil boy, that face is just the cutest ever. Sorry I have no suggestions, just wanted to say he is a little beauty. |

You have a hard decision before you, but, hair always grows back. You will find the perfect cut for him. |
I can't attach a photo because I am on my phone....but I Googled yorkie cuts and found this website....there is a chart if you will near the bottom of her page that shows some examples and I was thinking maybe the fourth image in from the left? Also the very first picture on her page might be something for him....keeping his body on the shorter side and leaving his legs a little longer(so hes not embarassed by his legs ;-)...) and then leaving his beard and topknot as well. I hope you are able to find a solution! Explore Yorkie Haircuts Pictures And Select The Best Style For Your Pet |
And p.s. he is majorly adorable! |
1 Attachment(s) I love his beautiful face! I got Katie at three years old. Her breeder cut her hair for me before she left for my home. Her body was cut short, but she left the legs, chest (a little shorter than before), and face long (it had been very long before this), and she had a small skirt. I've seen boys with similar cuts with or without a skirt. This photo was taken days after she joined our home. |

Thank you! You all are awesome and so helpful! Lots of cute cuts to consider! Both Katie's and Joey's are super cute as well as those on the site. I just wish I weren't so indecisive about this. My goal is to figure it out before the weather starts getting too warm around here. Ha |
Here is a great list of photos for the inspiration: https://www.facebook.com/suniuku.kir...=photos_albums That's a page of my dog's hairdresser. It's really too far from you, so I guess it's not an advertisement ;) She really love her job. I guess, it won't harm to print a photo you like to show to your hairdresser. |
1 Attachment(s) Have you looked on pinterest? There are lots of great pics on there. Barney is thin too so I also worried about how he would look with short hair. I had to shave him down at the end of summer because he took a run through the neighbor's field and came back covered in bagger lice, a seed that sticks to clothes and hair. He actually looked pretty good when it grew out to a puppy cut, long skinny legs and all. This picture is from a few weeks ago. I like this moderate length on him. |
