Jealous?? Our baby Macie will turn 2 next month. The first part of this month we went to our Daughter's house for our Grandson's birthday party and we took her.My Daughter has a little small mixed breed dog named Tooty and she loves me..jumps on my lap every chance she gets...Macie got really aggressive and tried to attack Tooty..I ended up taking her back home.My question ..I would love to have another Yorkie to go with Macie but now Im afraid to even think about it, has anyone else had this problem?? I dont know what to do!! |
Is Macie like that with any other dogs? How about ppl? Has she been well socialized? I think if you can provide more info about Macie members would be able to give you more advice. |
We have outside dogs and she loves to run and play with them and she loves people...its the only time we've seen her act this way.The outside dogs are bigger (Actually they are coon dogs..lol) and I dont hold them on my lap. I dont know why she acted that way...but I'm kinda afraid to get another one at this point... |
I think she's either feeling like she needed to protect you or is possessive of you. Has she met tooty before? If not, her getting on your lap might've triggered Macie's behavior. Maybe if you got them aquainted first... Or you can try having Macie on your lap first, and use treats to show that Tooty being close is a good thing. |
Piper is usually quite fine with other animals, but if I show an interest in them, all bets are off! She doesn't get aggressive with them, but I suddenly have a bouncy, boing-y baby girl wanting to be picked-up RIGHT NOW!! Even though she's alone while I work (40 hrs/wk), Piper simply cannot abide anyone else taking attention away from her...I'm good with that cuz I'm so wrapped up in her! |
It may just be certain dogs, so it's tough to say, really. I do think that pretty much every animal will learn to adjust eventually, to a new kiddo. |
