Cowlicks???
 
:confused:I am not new to Yorkies, but this is my first Parti Yorkie, is it normal for his pink skin to show through his white hair. There is one spot on his lower back that looks like it has very little hair on it. My husband says he has a cowlick in the black part of his hair right next to where it turns white, and laughs when I question him about it. Didn't know if parti's have thinner hair, if its just the pink showing through the white, or if it is a cowlick........ lol
I may be paranoid, don't want my baby having a bald spot! It is not irritated or anything and doesn't bother him.

Pepper Jack has major cowlick going on. I should have name him Beethoven cause he wild hair just like the composer. Can't do a thing with it. If I comb it down, in two seconds he shakes and there it is again. His pink skin shines through, too. He doesn't have any bald spots, but his hair is thin on his back.

Well.. VA is technically considered "south" but I'm in Northern VA so not sure if that would make a difference.. lol Anyway, I've only heard/used the term "hair swirl". I don't get how the word "cowlick" relates to what it is.. :confused:

If I part my dogs hair I can see the pink. But if Im not looking for it like that then I can't really see it.

We called them cowlicks growing up in Iowa. It's because it looks like a cow licked you on the head and it made the hair stand up in a patch. I've heard people call it "bed head" as well. When I was a kid (and had hair on my head), I had a cowlick every morning when I woke up, and I had to slick it down with water.

How old is pepper jack, Shooter is 13 weeks, maybe its because he is a puppy, I hope it thickens up!

Yes when I part Shooters hair, you see it, but as soon as he shakes it comes unparted and wild:animal36! How old is your Parti?

Pepper Jack is 17 weeks old today. His hair is getting thicker, but it is still unmanageable. I comb it and he looks so pretty, then he immediately shakes himself, and his hair separates, and he looks a mess. Hopefully the texture will change as he gets older. At least it doesn't mat.

Sounds like they both have the same type of hair, no mats here either, thank goodness!
