Help! Agressive behavior Hi- I have a situation and not sure how to handle. My 6 month old girl is our doll. Our daughter. Our baby. We have four children. Our puppy adores them. Adores us. But when I'm alone at the house and a girlfriend will come for a coffee visit, she agressively barks and looks so upset. I tried the shaky coin can as per a trainer. It doesn't bother her. I tried a spray bottle of water. It works for only a moment . Other suggestions? It is really upsetting. Thanks I'm just so beside myself. Any ideas to correct this behavior ? |
Yorkies are great attention seekers / demander's lol, when your friend comes over does she pay attention to him. The next time your friend comes over, have a treat ready, as soon as your friend enters your house give her the treat, then have her give the treat to your pup. Do this several times your friend comes over. He may just be jealous. |
Have you tried the Bark Genie yet? That may work...it works for some really well... |
Thanks- yes she does pay attention to her and then tries to ignore her when the aggression is occurring. I haven't tried that. I guess it's time to order. Thanks. |
An update- we hired a lovely trainer- his motto is peacefully understanding dogs. He said to train her, I should have her on the leash and when she barks at them, give a very firm no. It seems to be working . I also bought the anti bark sonic thing, but I'm nervous bc it says don't use too close to the dog or children? That concerns me a little bc in the moment, I don't want to Misjudge "too close" |
I'm so happy to hear things are working out for you. Did your trainer give you some insight on the behavior? Was it excitement?...fear? |
Thank you for the support! He said she is fearful and lacking confidence. He was really very patient and his tips were working while he was here, but he said the key is to continue practicing. |
