Grooming Table
 
I am sure there is a way to find this information, but I have complete technology phobia and have no idea how to search. I have decided I want to buy a grooming table as my little brat has taken to fighting me over her grooming. Thought it might be easier to have her up where I can access her and yes have her tethered like the real groomers do. We are entering our first show in April so I might as well get a portable one I can take with me. No idea what those are called? Anyway, I am thinking ebay? so I can hopefully get a deal in case I don't like it and want to switch. Which would be the best brand or style to look for?

Do those help with grooming? I'm trying to start cutting my dogs hair. Sammie doesn't like his face brushed. He hates the scissors and clippers even more. I have been giving him treats while cutting him to introduce the tools to him. However, 3 weeks later hr still doesn't like the tools.

It's going to take months of daily work, I used to give Lola crunchy treats constantly while I brushed her and gradually spaced them out. It took about 6 months of daily work to get her totally used to it. Now she gets 2 treats, one for getting on the table and one when we're done.

Grooming on a hard surface does help, I use my dinning room table covered with a towel.

You might want to try an expose him to them everyday even if your not cutting his hair.

I use the top of my washer I put a non skid pad down and a washable pee pad that my breeder gave me ( I dont use them as pee pads ) and I have a cupboard just for Bellas stuff, it's right next to the upscale laundry tube and thats were I give her baths. I am lucky to have a main floor laundry room. When its time to be groomed (everyday ) I just say clean up time and she comes running . She knows her special treat is waiting . Up she goes and she gets one freeze dried treat when she is done she gets one more which signals grooming time is done. Thats how we do it : )

Thanks for the tip. I never thought about using the washer/dryer as a grooming table. I didn't want to use any of my actual tables. Now I just need to find a leach thing that keeps them in place. (clearly I don't know the name of the item.)

I found that it helps to limit their space when grooming. Both Magnus/Zoey doesn't love being groomed but they'll put up with it now.

One thing I do is use the back part of the brush to "brush" them. Seems to calm them a little... I hold the treats in my hands and let them nibble on them while brushing/cutting. Of course, this would've been so much easier if I had another person to hold the treat.

Magnus settled on the routine in couple weeks but Zoey took few months. Another thing to consider is their size. If your furbutt is small like my Zoey (5.5 lbs), the dryer would be fine as you can maneuver her easily. But I think the rotating table would make it easier on you b/c you'd be able to have access to all sides of her and don't need to move her.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Love that little round table but it looks like it is too low to the ground or I have to sit it on top of a higher table and I definitely only want to buy one table. Mia definitely does better on a harder surface and all of the other suggestions would work but the truth of the matter is, while I know I have to do this every night, I don't want to inconvenience myself too much. I want to do it in the comfort of my own easy chair in front of the tv, lol. Need something portable that I can set in front of me. Have found a lot on ebay for only around 15.00 or so. I guess I will just take a chance and order something. Can always donate it to the local shelter if it doesn't work out.
