salt for ice How do you properly clean your dogs paws after you walk your dog? We walk and people obviously put salt down and when we get home it dries them out or whatever and he just constantly bites at them. I was just putting him in the tub and rinsing them off. Should I use dawn dish soap? What should I use or not use? |
I had the same problem. I used a wet rag to wipe them down. Now I use mushers secret. It adds a layer of protection and keeps the moisture in their paw pads. It is supposed to help on the pavement in the summer too. |
I just went to Drs Foster Smith.com and ordered it. Thanks! |
Well the salts they use are toxic so you either want to use don't shoes or really use soap and water and clean good. My mom had a friend who after taking her dog for a walk last year, her dog started licking her paws and she died. I haven gotten shoes from alldogboots.com and love them. The owner is a member here and she is awesome! |
Before owning my own home I HAD to leash walk my pups. In the winter and snow days as soon as we got in the house and before their coats / sweaters came off, I would rinse their feet in running warm water, then dry their feet. DO NOT LET THEM LICK THEIR PAWS BEFORE WASHING THE SALT OFF. Now I have a back yard so my boy uses that, when the snow is deeper then Cody is tall he has to use the deck. No big deal as the deck gets power washed and water proofed every spring. No leash walks for exercise after first snow fall for us, salt is still on our road, |
